I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Good afternoon Mayuko and listeners
  12:00pm JakeGould:

Hey Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, Mayuko and all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm paul b:

Mayuko, Looking at the header gif on today's playlist I was reminded that there is a scene in Tarkovsky's Solaris consisting of one of the protagonists driving through a city (A metaphor, i guess, for other journeys) -- which was filmed in Tokyo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Fox:

A lovely afternoon to you all.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Yvang:

Hello Mayuko & everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mayuko and listenerds. Clouds breaking up in this area. The sun is shining here again.
Avatar 12:10pm Mayuko:

Hallos, my radio family fred! Welcome, Ike and james!
Avatar 12:10pm fred:

Sadly, I think I'll miss next week's show: there's a 3-day festival for the 15th anniversary of Sublime Frequencies, with Kink Gong play next Saturday. This should be an expensive weekend
Avatar 12:10pm Mayuko:

Ike?! I meant JAKE.
Avatar 12:11pm Mayuko:

guess I greeted the phantom of Ike.
Avatar 12:12pm Mayuko:

Paul B, I haven't watched that movie but someone showed me that scene before - it's beautiful. And I love highways in Tokyo in real too. Used to live right by them...
Avatar 12:12pm fred:

No phantom apostrophe was involved, so you should be in the clear
Avatar 12:13pm Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in Fox! Lovely afternoon to you too! Hola comrade Gary! And hallo Yvang!!
Avatar 12:13pm Mayuko:

Hope that sun will come over to my part of the city too, Ken!
  12:14pm ike:

Did someone caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall for me?!?!?? Bwahahahaha!
Avatar 12:16pm Mayuko:

The appropriate day for seance should have been over by now!
  12:18pm ike:

I wasn’t aware that I was dead, but it makes sense that I’d keep commenting even after death. Rogue grocer’s apostrophes must’ve killed me.

‪“Everyday” cosplay (for fans of Lefebvre?) is trending on Twitter https://twitter.com/i/moments/1058700388646428672‬
Avatar 12:20pm Mayuko:

@fred ah cool! let us know how the kink gong show like when you're back.
Avatar 12:20pm fred:

Michel Henritzi scord a mesmerizing video of a train in (I think) Tokyo (it was called "train to Odaiba", I think that's part of Tokyo)
Avatar 12:25pm Mayuko:

@Ike In my homeland living people would send their phantoms out of their bodies too sometimes, when there's some obsession involved. did that never happen in the US?
  12:26pm Joe:

Hello Mayuko and vertighosts!
Avatar 12:30pm Mayuko:

@fred I'm guessing that train to Odaiba might be monorail (and it is indeed in Tokyo). It runs between buildings and then over the bridge/water. Very nice sight. I used to ride it often without no particular destination in mind.
Avatar 12:30pm fred:

Satin Wall reminds me of Anne-James Chaton
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm tmoyo:

Hey Mayuko and all!

@fred speaking of train to Odaiba, I think Mayuko posted a video loop that looked like the view from the train to Odaiba on the message board once.
Avatar 12:32pm fred:

@Mayuko: yeah, it was monorail, going between buildings and over water
Avatar 12:33pm Mayuko:

Hello Joe and Joe's ghost, thanks for tuning in!
Avatar 12:33pm Mayuko:

Hi tmoyo! You have good memory!
  12:38pm rw:

Morning. Where we headed? I still seem to be hanging on to the previous dream state.
  12:38pm rw:

Hawaii or Colorado sound nice though.
Avatar 12:40pm fred:

@Mayuko and tmoyo: I found the video here: vimeo.com...
It usually goes with a live improvised guitar score
Avatar 12:42pm Mayuko:

@rw Good morning! To me California would be nice too though?!
  12:43pm Rickwaukee:

80's have best musics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm tmoyo:

Thanks for the link fred! I think you can walk or cycle across the bridge too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Yvang:

80's have best synthesizers!
  12:47pm Joe:

It's another warm and sunny day here here in LA. Come on out to Cali!
Avatar 12:47pm Mayuko:

It's horrible that so many of the tracks I played in the first set is from the 80's, but they ARE good!
Avatar 12:48pm Mayuko:

@Joe Oh I would LOVE to! I want to see palm trees.
  12:50pm Joe:

Anybody else ever compare this track to Slapp Happy's
"Everybody's Slimmin"? They are super similar.
  12:52pm JakeGould:

Hope the wind doesn’t knock you down!
Avatar 12:52pm fred:

There's no shame in playing tracks from the 80's, especially if you manage to find the good ones (no easy task)
  12:54pm Gary via app:

Oui; market
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm melinda:

Hi everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm listener james from westwood:

A one-way ticket to Penguin Island sounds just about right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm melinda:

no shame in 80s music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Yvang:

I am sorry Gary but "marché" is french for "market". "marche" is french for "to walk". Or also "step" from a staircase.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Yvang:

French is confusing, I admit that.
  1:00pm Rickwaukee:

Narashita Baai your baby with a Dixie melody :-)
  1:00pm Gary via app:

Oh! Sorry for the confusion
Avatar 1:00pm fred:

@Yvang: I second that. Being expected to be fluent in that thing is getting more aggravating by the day
Avatar 1:02pm Sem:

Hello, Mayuko, vertigo-goers, and Norwegian listeners.
  1:03pm rw:

Joe! Based on a previous comment from several weeks ago I was thinking I might know you. But now I'm less certain. I feel like the Joe I know may be a little young to be a Slapp Happy fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I miss the pledge map that used to be in effect. I guess the new pledge system works differently than the old system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm listener james from westwood:

This Batik Loop goes really well with the playlist video.
Avatar 1:11pm Mayuko:

Hi melinda, and Sem! Glad to have you guys here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Rich in Washington:

Been thoroughly enjoying your show from a hot steamy bathtub, trying to soak off the lingering remains of this cold/flu thing I'm fighting - so unable to comment till now.
Great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm melinda:

@Ken I think northguineahills might be working on a map for next Marathon.
Avatar 1:14pm fred:

@Rich: Get well soon!
Avatar 1:16pm Mayuko:

@Rich aw thank you for listening and kind words! I hope you will feel better soon!!
Avatar 1:17pm Mayuko:

@james YES!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm melinda:

We've had several days of rainy grey weather where I am and I think it's getting to me. And when the trees still have their leaves it darkens interior spaces, so gloomy. But good music helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm coelacanth∅:

hi Mayuko and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@melinda - Yes, I remember him posting that once. I hope it comes to fruition.
  1:24pm Joe:

@rw A lot of what I listen to is admittedly before my time, haha. I'm in my 30s. Do we know each other?
Avatar 1:27pm northguineahills:

Making some shrimp and leek dumplings. The first Carolina reaper peppers came in this weekend, so, I'll add some to the dipping sauce. I have too many poblanos, so, tomorrow, I'll be making stuffed poblanos for the week.
Avatar 1:28pm fred:

Are you switching out of DST tonight? This different time difference is confusing
Avatar 1:28pm Mayuko:

@melinda I would like to think that my senses are open and reacting to nature as they should, when strong wind makes me feel lonely or a grey day melancholic. I want to think that it's a sign that you are not shut off and so it's reacting to trees and all.
At the same time I do want to know how not to be shaken by those things. that's what I was thinking while putting these music together!
Avatar 1:28pm Mayuko:

Hi, coelacanth∅! Thanks for tuning in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm listener james from westwood:

For all our living under roofs and in cubicles, we're still of nature, ultimately, and we still get moved by the art and music it makes.
  1:30pm JakeGould:

I am outside now in Brooklyn as well and agree: It is very windy!
Avatar 1:30pm Mayuko:

@northguineahills I would like them shrimps delivered here as zip file please.
  1:30pm spodiodi:

shrimps.zip mmm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@fred - Yes, we are. A close look at the front page shows that Joel & Bronwyn switch at 2:30 AM (normally 3AM).
Avatar 1:31pm Mayuko:

@fred ah! I totally forgot that it was happening.
  1:34pm rw:

Joe, well, you had said you were at the Brotzmann Heino show. Do you make infinite loops for a living?
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

@james ... and donuts.
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

@james but yes I agree that our bodies is the closest nature to us!
Avatar 1:36pm fred:

I finally found a place with decent onigiri. It's not that close to work, and they don't have katsuobushi, but they have good tuna and plain rice ones
Avatar 1:36pm Mayuko:

@Jake I don't understand why anybody would want to be outside in Brooklyn on THIS windy day?! The last time it was super windy here a window of the third floor of my building fell off and almost killed people. Sunset Park is very crappy.
  1:38pm JakeGould:

I am doing laundry and am getting sunlight while I wait for clothes to dry!
  1:38pm Joe:

@rw and you make your living peering through a special kind of looking glass! Good to know it's you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm chresti:

want to say hello quietly, while at work- I listen via itunes
Avatar 1:39pm Mayuko:

Hey spodiodi and Ivan!!! ワーイ!
  1:39pm JakeGould:

Sorry about the roof blowing off! I live on the 4th floor and if my roof blew off I would home someone would give it back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Brach:

this minimal has been the perfect soundtrack to my folding laundry
Avatar 1:41pm Mayuko:

@rw @Joe sounds like you guys have pretty great jobs, whatever those are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I've noticed Evol frozen food products at the grocery store recently. Nice to know they're branching out.
  1:42pm Rickwaukee:

Avatar 1:42pm Mayuko:

@fred I still cannot get over the fact how Seven Eleven in the US has no onigiri and great snacks like ones in Japan... they were so good......
  1:42pm JakeGould:

Oh you said a window blew out! If that were to happen to me I would want my window back.
Avatar 1:43pm northguineahills:

Haven't found any decent Japanese-styled chopsticks, as I prefer the shorter variety (left mine in Brooklyn), but the longer Chinese Style are great for cooking...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm tmoyo:

My favorite onigiri was the one my friend made me while we were preparing for an outdoors event. It had japanese fried chicken inside for stamina. I am getting hungry as I type.
  1:43pm JakeGould:

The most important thing about being an American is having property and asking for it back if someone asks for it back.
Avatar 1:43pm Mayuko:

Hi chresti! Thanks for stopping by the board!!!
  1:43pm rw:

As do you Mayuko!
Avatar 1:46pm Mayuko:

@Brach thanks for listening! my show is known to go well with furniture-assembling and laundry-folding.
  1:46pm rw:

Joe, crazy small world, huh? At least it seems so through this looking glass...
Avatar 1:46pm fred:

Nothing beats homemade onigiri. How I wish I had that skill
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm tmoyo:

Loving this set!
Speaking of snacks, I think the US have better potato chips & tortilla chips.
Avatar 1:47pm Mayuko:

@Ken is Evol like Goya?? I wonder if I ever seen it or maybe I wasn't paying attention?
  1:47pm rw:

tmoyo, homemade tortilla chips are easy and delicious!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm tmoyo:

WHAAAT you can make them???
  1:48pm rw:

I mean, if you can get corn tortillas there.
Avatar 1:48pm Mayuko:

@tmoyo who needs potato chips when there's wonderful rice crackers which is my soul food?
  1:49pm Mark R:

Digging this Circling Vultures track, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm tmoyo:

rw, unfortunately we don't have them here... unless you have a membership for COSTCO I guess?

Mayuko, Rice crackers are great, but I love unhealthy greasy chips too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Mayuko - They specialize in frozen items without the usual chemicals. www.evolfoods.com Hope they prosper.
Also, my October swag arrived today. Just 24 hours after making the goal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm listener james from westwood:

Solid beats in this second set!
Avatar 1:51pm fred:

@Mayuko: I thought it was ice cream?
  1:52pm Mark R:

Also digging Shifted, which you segued into like a first class nightclub DJ!
  1:52pm rw:

tmoyo, Heat up some cooking oil in a frying pan maybe a centimeter or so deep, cut or break the tortillas into wedges and fry them up. Flip them, drain them, and put them on a paper towel. Add salt and try not to eat them right away!
Avatar 1:53pm Mayuko:

@fred ice cream is my DRUG. EVIL STUFF!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm coelacanth∅:

ngh i bought chopsticks on ebay. i don't know how "authentic" they are but they're the perfect length and are just slightly squared toward the non-food end so they don't roll around a lot. 5 pair supposedly 5 different hardwoods but i think that's bullshit! (but i don't care) <$10. (maybe closer to 5) i'm very happy with them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm tmoyo:

thanks rw!! I'll try to find them tortillas
  1:54pm JakeGould:

@tmoyo:The U.S. also has potato chip flavors nobody wants. Like UTZ has an “Italian Hoagie” flavor. It is so bad.
Avatar 1:54pm Mayuko:

Hola Mark R! Thank you for your ears!!!
  1:55pm Joe:

@rw Totally! This made my day. @tmoyo I'm not sure that American chips are really that much better than Japanese ones. I can never find those Calbee consommé chips here; those were my favorite!
Avatar 1:55pm northguineahills:

I make my own tortilla chips from tortillas....

or, what rw said...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm tmoyo:

wtf is Italian Hoagie?? now I am officially hungry. going to make ramen after the show.

Joe, Calbee is my favorite brand here!
Avatar 1:56pm northguineahills:

I rather buy local then buy online, coel, but it might come to that....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

ngh i agree but for me it did come to that. i even tried making them first but without a small lathe that was not meant to be.
Avatar 1:58pm northguineahills:

@Joe: You should see the Japanese chip flavors....

noshing on some spicy dried shredded squid right now...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Brach:

this background music is very good
  1:58pm Mark R:

That's what cats do.
  1:58pm ike:

Great show! And yes, 7/11 sucks in the US! The Japanese own them and still no onigiri, LOL.
  1:58pm JakeGould:

Cats are such jerks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Mayuko!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks for a wonderful show, Mayuko!
Avatar 2:02pm Sem:

Thanks, Mayuko! Beautiful things to savour, as always.
  2:03pm rw:

tmoyo, actually I mean DO eat them right away but wait until they cool a little so you don't burn your mouth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar 2:04pm fred:

Thanks Mayuko
  2:04pm ike:

I don’t know much about onigiri but I got a really delicious one at a bakery in Fort Lee NJ once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Rain or shine, it's a good day for ice cream! Thanks, Mayuko. May the sun brighten your week. Turn your clocks back tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm tmoyo:

Thank you Mayuko!
& rw for the tip!
and ike I use to live in Fort Lee!!
  2:05pm Joe:

Thanks for another great show Mayuko! See you around rw. I'm gonna have to try that chip recipe!
  2:05pm rw:

Thank you Mayuko! if you or anyone else here are ever out in the Dream State of Southern California hit me up and we'll go get some tacos!
Avatar 2:06pm Mayuko:

  2:07pm rw:

Joe, have a good one!
Avatar 2:07pm Mayuko:

@rw I'll sure want me some nice local-recommended tacos!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm coelacanth∅:

i've had onigiri from just one source and they were different than how i'd had them described; but the owner of the shop is a snob about being authentic japanese so i assume these were authentic.
they were good. that's all!
  2:08pm JakeGould:

Cats steal souls.
  2:09pm Rickwaukee:

Take THAT, Sonic Youth! Thanks, Big M
Avatar 2:09pm Mayuko:

@Brach Yes! that's Raymond Scott!
Avatar 2:09pm northguineahills:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm coelacanth∅:

i'm about 2/3 way through "windup bird chronicles" so anyone else here who's read it knows the significance of this cat talk.
  2:10pm Joe:

@rw you have a good one too! And that sounds like a taco meetup I'd love to attend. Bye everyone!
Avatar 2:12pm Mayuko:
