This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

there was something too cute about Donovan's mellow yellow
Avatar 7:14pm
Flash Strap:

a charge frequently leveled at donovan – usually, I feel, unfairly – but in the case of mellow yellow, I have to agree. tho i do like it. he just has a hundred better songs, many of which aren't cute at all, some of which are even cuter
Avatar 7:15pm
TDK60:

chresti: of course, but I forgave him for it - it was the '60s, hee!.. there're so many other incredible Donovan cuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm

not my favorite Donovan song either (also by far) but it was clever to create a pop song so cute that it became a big am radio hit, despite it being about a dildo!

Ok, Somehow both the original and the copy of a project due tomorrow got deleted. I went into a cold and hot sweat and got vertigo and felt like I was getting an aneurysm. Then I remembered I have non-visible folders w/ all of the data layers, so, I don't have to start from scratch, just cobble it back together. Ok, going to listen while laying on the office floor until my vitals go back to normal.

(Spectrum does a great song about Owsley).

Why has Mussorgsky been run through the ringer? I was just thinking this morning how I, and probably most of us, learned Pictures via Ravel, and so now we listen to the solo piano piece as an arrangement of the orchestration (which is an arrangement of the piano piece). And of course, ELP.

One of the best synthesized versions of classical: Reverberi's self-titled album from 1976 or so.

Evan, here's a link to Canyon Cinema and David LeBrun's extraordinary film,"Tanka". I saw it once, years ago, and I remember it as almost as a projected collage of fast moving mandalas.
I could be wrong about that, but I think you'd dig it.
He was one of the SWTB originators.
