I miss making vegan T-giving for the wife after having a gluttonous omnivoric travesty w/ my family. At least this year, I'll be having a halal T-giving (sister-in-law's family). Her grandma knows how to cook!
Hey northguineahills, props for starting the cooking process, I haven't even got all the ingredients yet :/
Hi chresti! Hearing the quiet under the ice :)
@Chresti: I prefer to cook and watch sports (futbol) and listen to podcasts, and play stupid games at the same time. When the cooking is done, then I socialize.
listening as bed for The Great British Baking Show - you deserve better than having the tv on while you're on but you could do worse as far as television goes.
Chresti suggested making a field recording recording of our Thanksgiving dinner. That would be fascinating. My mother talking gibberish while she is waving around a huge knife, while my sister and myself fume with impatience.
I haven't yet decided if I should make an entire pumpkin pie so that it's easier to follow a recipe and not adjust measurements, or improvise a small pumpkin custard-for-one like I usually do.

I’m planning on bringing a Bluetooth speaker to pipe in give the drummer radio
If the dinner wasn't at noon, I could make something, but, it's a 2.5 hour drive (and I don't wake up early).
It'll be interesting, Sister-in-law's Guyanese Halal parents/family (her sisters aren't)(her father is a GOP judge). Her sister's Colombian husband's family, and my cracker-ass family. (Actually, everyone gets along quite fine).
@Franco mmm, I love peaches, had a couple of peach trees when I was growing up. But pumpkin reminds me of happy holidays past. Also it's easier to adapt to low-sugar than my other favorite, pecan.

chresti:
That’s great ngh! My family is too far away to do a combo gathering.

Perfect sounds while discussing holiday gatherings
@chresti: I think myself, one of my SIL's sis's. and their nephew are the only non-GOPers, but I'm rather zen (I deal w/ my parents all the time), and the food will be awesome).
Frranco: If life has taught me anything, no food helps my spelling (I'm beyond help in that dept). At least there's an authentic Szechuan/Shanghai restaurant here, but every now and then, I crave cheap Chinese American. (also love to cook it, as there's a Chinese market here).
I"ve gotten one of my bros to moderate his views, but it has taken years of indirect commentary and web links, nothing direct or in his face. Even my father has somewhat chilled (you got to be nonchalant and act like it's incidental and non-political)>
I just realized that my primary online payment credit card was supposed to be cancelled today due to a potential security breach but I never received a replacement card. Damn you Bank of America!
It's in their interest to get the new card to me in a timely way so I can actually use it, hope there's not an unreasonable amount of hassle when I call tomorrow.
Fully fortified! Okay, back to it. TDK, Harder That The Rest! A personal favorite. Iron Sharpening Iron - If I learn could do that organ drop, I would think my life was a success. I like this album better than 77's Clash.

When I was married, the entertainment for the menfolk was watching football games while the womenfolk are cooking in the kitchen
