That is a statue in Jena of Albertus Magnus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm

I guess Albertus Magnus is looking through the real estatus listingus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm

Near my home in Brooklyn is a carousel with a working Wurlitzer. It is marvelous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
David D:

Yes, crateslinger, the picture was in fact taken (by my wife Jana - thanks!) around 20 years ago. I think it looks a little different now.

Thanks. Michael, that is probably a more recent photo. I was in Jena a few days ago but forgot to go to that spot.

Michael 98145:

that statuary is supposedly at the University of Cologne
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
David D:

Maybe he was on vacation now that the wall is down.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Michael 98145:

.. perhaps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
steveo:

seems the original is in Cologne... with three known copies: " drei weitere Abgüsse des Denkmals stehen in Universität in Bogotá (1965), vor der University of Houston School of Law in Houston/Texas, an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
David D:

Thanks, steveo! The Cologne version actually looks like a newer version of the same statue. I am intrigued,
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
Michael 98145:

that must be the Freshman dorm at der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
steveo:

Albertus is smiling wryly at this last comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm

It was part of one of the university complexes, I believe. I never had classes there myself, though.

Canesque?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm
David D:

Brian: Yes, that is always very annoying. Maybe it will occur to him someday...
Avatar 5:26pm
Carmichael:

@Brian, lots and lots of rain lately, so 100% containment. The entire town of Paradise, however, is gone, 10K homes burned down. Looks like the local utility, PG&E, started the fire from downed power lines. As my friend in the insurance business says, "Someone's writing a check ..."
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:27pm
Michael 98145:

to add to the sadness, a lot of folks had retired to the area. now what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm
Brian in UK:

Glad to hear that, Carmichael. It looks like Radio Paradise that was based in Paradise moved before all this. I know, a small thing in the scheme of things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm
David D:

It is very scary, glad you're okay Carmichael.
Avatar 5:32pm

@Carmichael: Hopefully, not too much rain, b/c now it's a recipe for a major mudslide event....

Hello, David and radio friends!
Avatar 5:37pm
Carmichael:

Yep, mudslides are the next major concern, although it's not too hilly and there's nothing left to save except for the high school and a business or two. Most people need to find somewhere to go for the next year or so.

Anyway, great music, David!

I came inside to get a snack only to be blindsided by Imrat Khan. Amazing! I saw him at this nice theater in Brea years ago - totally blew doors on all Indian masters I've ever heard or seen, and I've seen a few. Is Rag Pilu an afternoon raga or an evening raga? Makes no nevermind, but I am curios.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm

Thanks David. It means evening. Although it's still afternoon out here. It put me in some kind of mood, I'll tell you. If I didn't already make beans and enchiladas for dinner, I would go get Indian.
