No, melinda. Dice Russets. Throw the into a pan with a coupla tablespoons of olive oil. Medium heat for a few minutes, then low. Toss them now and then. In an hour or two, they'll be golden, crisp on the outside, pillowy on the inside. Season as you prefer.

Speaking of the vintage toys, we had one of these in the mid-60s, and Mom said recently she thinks it might still be in the attic, because most things just never get back out of the attic. It seemed VERY large to me when I was very small. And it seemed more serious than just a "toy." You can also see a vintage TV ad for it online.

At the risk of revisiting our conversation last week -- which I thoroughly enjoyed, so not much risk -- I learned afterwards that a new book about Andrea is due to appear: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/last-days-hot-slit On top of that, I found a thread in which none other than John Stoltenberg assured readers that she was by no means transphobic (or whatever).

Franco these where matchbox-sized plastic models that (for a child that never put models together) took about 5 minutes to assemble.
what i liked about them was 1) they were realistic and 2) they were all regular (though cool) street cars. none of this hot wheels ridiculousness.
  11:05pm
Dean:

I don't peel them, but it's a judgment call. If you're into the crispy-goldenness, then peel them, because the flesh of the potatoes is what takes on that color. But if you like the peels--if you like baked potatoes--then by all means keep them on.

@chresti, you can’t cut yourself with a sharp knife. Only with a dull one.

Restaurant maxim. Guide the knife, don’t let the knife guide you.

...i'm just assuming trimming ketchup is doing away with the crusty stuff that accumulates around the top?
...is trimming catsup a similar thing, or no?

Trimming Ketchup was the name of my first band in high school.

i do most of my cutting in my hands. almost never use a cutting board. and i usually use small knives. (i use a cleaver to slice an onion (in my hands) and a cleaver w/cutting board for things like winter squashes; pineapple.....
i sharpened my knives a couple months ago and immediately did a job on my thumb.

Okay, I'll explain this slowly: When ketchup is stored improperly ( label facing north) the added sugars congeal into Condiment Whiskers, that can have a volatile reaction with waffles, bologna, sportswear, drapery and book reports. Who needs that kind of stress in their life? Nip it in the bud!

Sharp knives are overrated. Blunt knives are just fine if you know how to use them.
