@dale: Seems the basic recipe is Brown liquor (whiskey, bourbon, rye), natural sweetener, bitters. It's fun trying out new variations!

there was some other bourbon drink i made like that required a red hot poker from the woodstove be placed into it allowed to boil a bit. it was pretty good, but i think the poker was just theater.

The Han Chinese (and to some extent, the Japanese), have reduced the aboriginal Taiwanese inhabitants to just 2.3% of the population (it's been a change in the last millennium.

Does that relate to the Ainu, ngh?

Not really, Rev Rabbit, more related to the indigenous Filipinos. Not sure why I have Taiwan on the mind.

@7:18 northguineahills: i smell a marathon preium, either for vocal fry or techtonic!

Avatar 7:33pm

The Ainu are probably more related to the far eastern Siberian tribes close to the Bering Strait, but they're rather genealogically unique....

@Tom: Originally Honshu and Hokkaido, but, now, only in the northern reaches of the latter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Richard S:

Last I checked, the Ainu are the indigenous people of the Japanese Islands. When the people who are now Japanese moved in, they treated the Ainu like any other territorial 'invaders' treated the natives.

And I think they still do.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Dan Bodah:

D'oh, the Ainu live in Japan not Taiwan as I said! I was considering playing a Bunun song from Taiwan but went for the Ainu song instead, but confused myself.
