This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Kamboulay is just barely getting started: this is one of the ultimate history lessons in song, this is what Calypso was made to do, but rarely does on such a grand scale

Lancelot kills me everytime, one of the greatest and most unfairly overlooked/underrecorded of the later Calypsonians. very reminsicent of Chalkdust's style as the "Calypso Professor", but stylistically much more radical. Unusually good among his peers at synthesizing soca, disco, etc., and Rapso (which he "invented" more or less) as well

Back when I was 22, a friend of mine djed one of the largest modern art galleries in Jacksonville. A lot of blue hairs were there. My friend played Dillenger's "Cocaine in My Brain". We should have brought some fainting couches.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
coelacanth∅:

i used to live with a guy who had long, beautiful dreads. i'd bet many women were jealous, as it seems most "black" women with long beautiful hair bought it, and have scant hair growing from their scalp.
anyway i don't know how often he washed his hair. he was extraordinarily clean and tidy in general; but he put all kinds of stuff into his hair! eggs, yoghurt, mayonaise...basically, if something was rotting or a dairy product going sour or moldy in the refrigerator, he'd transfer it to the bathtub for later use!

Uncle Michael:

I trick nature into thinking I'm an ally for the tomatoes.
  9:37pm
Dean:

Yes, but "the vortex of savagery and chaos" is 1) a human (i.e., your) construct), and 2) you are necessarily of nature, as are we all. I admire the sublime in human interventions as much as in so-called "Grand" canyons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
coelacanth∅:

sometimes i step in. if the snake's not in danger of starvation i might try to create some sort of barrier. i know it probably wouldn't work; and i know i'd be interfering with ...something. but enough wrens must get taken and enough snakes survive -and it's possible that the wrens were more vulnerable than they'd be if a house and porch wasn't there to nest upon.
  9:40pm
Dean:

Put another way, suburbs are kinda cool, too.
Avatar 9:41pm
Flash Strap:

hehe Dean I think you know there's a difference between a tree and a coal plant when it comes to which is more "of nature" but you can dig the burbs if you dig em

Avatar 9:44pm

impressive, you gotta hand it to him then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm
coelacanth∅:

right,Flash. i've never witnessed a snake in nature take it's meal. that might've caught me off guard.
...i've successfully protected birds' nests from various mammals only to come out one day to an empty nest. -too sudden for them to've learned to fly.
they were probably taken by a hawk.
