This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Franco Twinkie:

Danny, a bed of buttered potato with nopales and tomato mixed in, topped with two sunny side up eggs, lashed with salsa verde de Molcajete, Sonoran style tortillas and Dos XX. Gotta be finished before you hit the air!

Yusef really flies on this track, something about it takes my breath away honestly
Avatar 9:06pm
northguineahills:

Although I only have corn tortillas (I have a cast iron tortilla maker/fryer), I prefer the wheat, as the sweeter texture works well against the heat/sourness/vinegar of the salsas....

Yusef in his prime East-West period. Agreed, GREAT track.

Michael 98145:

Fascinating, about that Harumi disc ; "The album was recorded sometime between 1967 and 1968 in New York. Very little is known about the recording of the album aside from what is on the sleeve of the record. Key personnel such as backing musicians are absent from the album credits."
Avatar 9:37pm

Thanks Evan! Another show of multitudes
Avatar 9:56pm
TDK60:

maybe Harumi had a band? but if those were session players, some may have been the same folks who played behind Janis Ian, Tim Hardin, Bob Lind, Laura Nyro, etc. on Verve Forecast; maybe. Those vibes in the background sound familiar.
