I just wanted to share, theres a leafblower outside my apartment that is hitting the same exact pitch as the bag pipes, but an octave lower, and it feels like a special moment for some reason

My first visit as an adult in '99 to NYC I (I was 23), I drove w/ my gf from fl and the first day, I spent over $600 at OM. I found so many recs I'd been looking for since I was in HS, I went apeshit. Broke. my gf was pissed, and couldn't do anything in NY, as I had no money. On the way back, in order to get gas, we had to look in the car seats to look for change to get us back to FL. It was worth.

I also ran into Jim O'Rourke in front of me in the OM line (2004, after I moved there), and he had a stack of Naked City Recs. We talked and hung out at Tonic that night.

My ex-gf sent me to OM in 2001 to get tix for a Maxwell's event w/ Arto Lindsey/Anti-pop Consortium/Dj Spooky. I was in grad school and broke, and told her it was a bad idea to send me. Yes, I spent my last dime on recs there.
