Found it going through my dad's stuff after he died, and it seemed quite mysterious since he didn't wear macrame necklaces but my mom recognized it as something they probably picked up at a craft fair in the 70s.
	9:49am still b/p: melinda, I saw a barred owl sitting on top of a car on a mild winter night a few months ago, in Ferry Village neighborhood of South Portland. Was great and so unexpected. Where was that nest, perhaps osprey -- though I'm sure it's happened more than once -- where parents rejected chick and got quite brutal with it and plenty of upset people watching webcam pressed wildlife people to intervene. They did not.

One of our neighbors told us that there's a bald eagle hanging out nearby that gets run off by the osprey when they return to nest. Who messes with an eagle? Saw an osprey go after a heron a couple days ago as well.

In a recent interview with Long Reads, James discussed how the Gormenghast series was an inspiration of his soon-to-be published "Black Leopard, Red Wolf," saying "the fantasy novel that continues to rule my life is Gormenghast. It was a blueprint for how the fantastical grows up." longreads.com...
