Yes, that version of the summer time does follow all the rhythms, the back beat, and the melody of the original sublime track. The vocal delivery is a bit less bombastic and more hunting on this cover.

Tomorrow Madonna will be performing during the Eurovision song contest. Duncan of The Netherlands is SO high in the bookmaker's polls as winner (>50%), that it's almost scary. A dutch victory would be the first one in over 40 years (the last being Ding a dong by Teach In).

Also, Conchita is singing at NYC Pride's Tea Dance on June 29, so if anyone can report back...too soon for another stalker road trip for me.

First half final: Cyprus was fun and ridiculous. Conan Osiris KILLED IT. THey wrote a song for Serhat's non existent range, and he still sang off key. And beat Conan Osiris by two votes. And I am still bitter. Darude was great, but his singer was more off key than Serhat, and Montenegro was a complete mess.

Sheila I am not sure if you are a horror fan at all but can I recommend the horror novella Wylding Hall? It's about a psychedelic pop band in the early 70s who go to a rural English country home to record some music for the summer and... spookiness ensues, lots of folk horror Wicker Man type stuff. It's so much fun and has a great audiobook!

Jasper Verhulst, originally from De Biet, was in the band of Jacco Gardner (speaking of neo psychedelica). When he toured with Gardner in Turkey, he picked up psychedelic Turkish records from the 70's, liked them a lot, founded Altin Gun and looked for Dutch/Turkish singers to sing the songs.

Haha! Thank you, Rob Kopp. Yeah it's things like that I really try to go for. Segues are important. It can be really unpleasant if two songs don't work together.
