	2:42pm coelacanth∅: my introduction to Kali Fasteau is that a friend gave me a tape in the 1990s. it's embarrassing because this friend was David Ware's wife, and gave me the tape soon after it was obvious i was not grasping David's music. i didn't know it at the time, i just thought she was sharing music. probably true, but she also probably considered it a good stepping stone. strangely i soon got very into David's music, before i really listened to Kali Fasteau.

	2:49pm northguineahills: Cool, coel: Heck, I was stuck in the indie ghetto until 1994 I saw a Sam Rivers followed by Mathew Shipp w/ William Parker. Parker blew my mind and I never looked back. It really changed 'music' for me. (I was just 18). (although I liked classic bebop in HS).

But she chose viola intentionally having been inspired by her teacher who was a violist. She's currently trying out new bows, each of which costs more than several cars I've owned.
