This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

re: Stubbs and painters. Flash, have you ever talked about landscape painting of the Hudson River School, esp. Frederic Church? Seems profoundly in your wheelhouse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Zebras are black with white stripes or white with black stripes? Seems to me that was proven scientifically, but I forget which way it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm

p.s. Great sounds thusfar. Didn't know this Elvin Jones LP

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:14pm

good question, Ken
Avatar 7:15pm
Flash Strap:

I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about Hudson River School, but I would say it's in my wheelhouse... I'm always cutting up their paintings out of old books for collage

Very much in the vein of the American / European obsession for panorama, with echoes of the Romantic sublime. American exoticism to the point of mythicism. some great tropical paintings too, a lot of those guys did en plein air in the West Indies, etc.
