This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

@Michael: found that in my archives this morning, searching for the playlist image that would sum all this up somehow. always slightly surprised to discover that I have a whole "circus" folder, oddly
Avatar 7:07pm Flash Strap:

Hi Chresti! The clowns I believe are the walking cactus and the WC Fields type who's stuck with cactus spines

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Michael 98145:

wowza - great set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Michael 98145:

seven come eleven
Avatar 7:27pm hyde:

@Flash should clarify that i generally mean the late 70's thru the 80's mostly. (the later stuff can be good too but i don't know it as well). kind of any of the Steve Lacys (esp. Morning Joy (Live At Sunset Paris) or Cecil Taylors. There's a great Coe/Oxley record. The many Pauline Oliveros...I like the Franz Koglman LP. And the McPhees.

Basically in the 70's thru the 80's they put out such great records that if I see one I don't have, I generally snap it up.
Avatar 7:28pm hyde:

(some of these are Hat Art).
Avatar 7:28pm Flash Strap:

Oh that's right, I forgot about Oliveros! and I definitely have some of their Lacy records but need to complete the set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm fleep:

(surfacing) Greetings! Mixing you with Hearty White.
Avatar 7:30pm hyde:

i forgot the Jimmy Lyons LP! that one's super cool, he didn't put out so many records as a leader
Avatar 7:31pm Flash Strap:

I'm going to get deeper into the Hat Hut zone because of this Hyde
Avatar 7:32pm Flash Strap:

Orchestre de la Paillote also known as Keletigui et ses Tambourinis. Obsessed with this track at the moment
Avatar 7:32pm Flash Strap:

Hello Regal Fleep!
Avatar 7:33pm hyde:

there's 3 jimmy lyons LPs, i think. Push Pull is really good, Riffs is OK and Jump Up with John Lindberg + Sunny Murray is aces.
Avatar 7:33pm Flash Strap:

should say, better known as Keletigui et ses Tambourinis
Avatar 7:35pm Flash Strap:

I don't know any of them, YET
Avatar 7:37pm geezerette:

A lesson in Spanish and unconscious racism from 1943.
Avatar 7:38pm geezerette:

That set was beautiful!
Avatar 7:42pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm fleep:

Marimbas and organ? Heaven
Avatar 7:50pm Flash Strap:

@fleep: I agree, this record has such a great sound. Breuer later did a lot of latin moogsploitation type stuff, which makes sense
Avatar 7:52pm Flash Strap:

hi passiflora!
Avatar 7:52pm Flash Strap:

such cartoon music
Avatar 7:53pm northguineahills:

Mallet Mischief is much better then Mullet Mischief....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm doctorjazz:

Like this Breuer, vibes or xylophone, that is the question (internets has him playing both). Sounds like vibes tho me.
Avatar 7:54pm Flash Strap:

conjures a nicer visual that's for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm chresti:

Oh my giddness

..wonder what the ratio was of figure to hockey skates at Hub rink. I think of this sorta stuff..
Avatar 7:57pm Flash Strap:

@chresti: i think that harmony will mostly maintain throughout the rest of the evening

were you tripping when you realised that?!
Avatar 8:20pm Flash Strap:

@G: your pineapple decisions will only seem more perfect as this show progresses

I don't think so, it's possible
