@Fredericks: I recently ran across the album Mingus Plays Piano - 1963. It's all solo Mingus on piano, playing his compositions and other stuff (e.g. Body and Soul). Worth a listen...

Sounds interesting, L.O.T.. I will investigate. Thanks for the tip.

I'm a long-time fan of David Garland's work. My condolences, also, on his loss.
Avatar 5:04pm
Listening Out There:

FMU can't talk David Garland to do a program remotely? Think of Uncle Michael and David Dichelle, who are remote. Would be great if DG had a program. Entice him with a big satchel of bucks...

natbot:

Garland song is a revelation.

Thanks for honoring the Garlands--and what LOT said--wish FMU could get David to do a program one way or another! It would be so very good.

Great show, as always. No pearls of unwisdom from me, though. Busy chatting online with several folks, and meanwhile suddenly had to clean up after a banana tree on the neighbors' side of the fence here in New Orleans that decided it could no longer sustain a huge bunch of bananas, so down it all came in my driveway. Breadknives come in useful for lots of things. Time for lots of banana bread.
