hello again, all! Linda, Gershon Kingsley's First Moog Quartet wrote and first performed that Moog standard, "Popcorn."

Hi all. Listening live from Pattaya Thailand. Hoping to listen to my favourite "Sheena" shows as I travel around Cambodia next week too. Always love the show.
  4:24pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

I'm crazy busy today, but I just had to brag that I own a Blu-ray of the Sgt Pepper movie. It's spectacular :)
Avatar 4:25pm
Linda Lee:

thanks, Mr. F! must hunt that one down again.
  4:26pm
Martinibomb:

Hey Dave! hope you're having a good time on your travels. thanks for listening
  4:26pm
Martinibomb:

@Hopey I'll let our guest know ;-)
Avatar 4:27pm
Mr Fab:

that's crazy cool, Dave! There's some Cambodian sounds in the stream actually, and a number of tracks from the band Dengue Fever. Which I hope you don't come down with. have a great time!
  4:33pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

Great. @ Mr Fab. Thanks. I will play the archived show later. Chilled with the air con blasting away. Hot!
Avatar 4:35pm
Linda Lee:

wasn't that a pretty 'pretty vacant'!
  4:39pm
Martinibomb:

yep! Had to play both sides thanks Worlds worst
  4:39pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

Chilled punk? Why do I like this so much? You have matched my mood. Thank you Martinibomb.
Avatar 4:40pm
Mr Fab:

Those punk songs were quite clearly the most punk things in the punk history of punk
Avatar 4:40pm
Linda Lee:

didn't miss the pistols just now, but i did miss the ramones.
Avatar 4:41pm
Mr Fab:

Aargh, i actually have this Burt Reynolds vinyl - gatefold folds out into a centerfold-like photo of Burt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
Rich in Washington:

I still get somewhat verklempt when I realize all the original Ramones are gone. Such a huge part of my teenagehood.
Avatar 4:43pm
Linda Lee:

'the world's first male centerfold' made Burt a real star ~ so he sure had to do it again for the record company!
Avatar 4:44pm
Mr Fab:

OH, how I wish this had been featured in Batman somehow!
Avatar 4:44pm
Linda Lee:

gosh, what a recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm
Rich in Washington:

I remember that shortly after Burt's infamous centerfold, The Unknown Comic issued his own spread, with a paper tallboy bag over his bits n' pieces.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
Rich in Washington:

DOLEMITE!
  4:47pm
Martinibomb:

The trailer for the new Eddie Murphy Dolemite looks fantastic
Avatar 4:47pm
Linda Lee:

my god, Rich, are the original Ramones all gone? that's not right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah. Only Marky Ramone remains. And the much later CJ.
Avatar 4:49pm
Linda Lee:

that's Edie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

I think I still have the 12 inch of this that I bought back in the day. I was big into collecting comedy records then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
Hopey Sockmonkey:

Linda, I was thinking the same thing about "Edie". Ha
  4:50pm
Martinibomb:

Yup! Me too this is mine 12" 45rpm played at 33rpm lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
Rich in Washington:

Tommy was the last to go. The news broke just as me and my pal Jeff 'DJ FU' K. were about to do our big annual punk rock show, so we played almost all Ramones instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm
Rich in Washington:

Anybody see Eddie doing Rudy yet? Does it look good?
Avatar 4:51pm
Linda Lee:

that's sweet. glad you did that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
Rich in Washington:

Didn't some sketch show like SNL or Mad TV, In Living Color, etc. do a recurring Dolemite parody thing? I seem to remember seeing something back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm
Rich in Washington:

Our shows have become this morbid 'who's dead' kind of bummer countdown. The punks are droppin' like flies.
Avatar 4:54pm
Mr Fab:

'twas a lot funkier at 33 1/3
Avatar 4:54pm
Linda Lee:

.. Jim Bacchus?
Avatar 4:55pm
Linda Lee:

well, the oldest punks were yippies weren't they. we're all aging, love!
Avatar 4:56pm

considering, we're lucky we made it this far!

Kermit the Frog played a surprise set at Newport Folk Festival, backed by a band including Janet Weiss, the former drummer of Sleater/Kinney. You can't make this stuff up.
Avatar 5:04pm
Linda Lee:

wow :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm

Was reading that people are up in arms (whatever the hell that means) about Weiss' sudden departure from Sleater/Kinney.

Mr Fab:

So N. F. porter's name is "Nolan," eh? that's a great 45 my hippie big sis passed down to me that I always loved but never knew a durn thing about.
  5:35pm
Martinibomb:

Hello Otis!
Avatar 5:36pm
Otis Fodder:

@Fab - I didn't even know it was N.F... on the album with that track he is listed as Nolan, but just checked Discogs as the single was N.F. .. cool little tidbits here.
  5:39pm
Martinibomb:

oh yeah I have it as NF on my copy but yeah it shows up as Nolan on compilations
  5:39pm
Martinibomb:

Are you guys digging the thick 1990s cassette tape saturation?
Avatar 5:48pm
Otis Fodder:

Dig it. Goes great with a book I picked up this summer, "Blood on Black Wax: Horror Soundtracks on Vinyl". Happy a load of these have been reissued over the past two decades heavy on CD/LP.
  5:51pm
Martinibomb:

I like how he listed the movie and not the composer on this mixtape
  5:53pm
Martinibomb:

I just got this tape player first run on it. :-)
  5:59pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

I feel happy that my ears can still hear tape hiss after decades of listening to music too loud lol. My kind of mix.
  6:06pm
Martinibomb:

@Dave! Hahah Yess glad you are digging this. It's a special friend of miine who I never see anymore he used to make all of these lovely mixtapes back in the 80s/90s super happy to play this for you guys! and he's underground cartoonist
Avatar 6:11pm
Otis Fodder:

Long shows are great for digging out and playing mixtapes!
Avatar 6:12pm
Otis Fodder:

'playing'... better suited word... 'showcasing'!
  6:12pm
Martinibomb:

Exactly! Been wanting to play this for awhile couldn't wait for Halloween Lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm

I guess Halloween isn't really *that* far away. . .

Wow. The last few hours have slipped by really quickly. Gotta get up in a few hours so must catch some sleep for now. It's 05:30 in Pattaya.I shall catch up on the archive. Thank you Martinibomb. It's been a very good one.
  6:41pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks for tuning in!
Avatar 6:44pm
Otis Fodder:

Been on the couch listening to the dark mix. Had to get up, time to make dinner ... before the couch comes alive and eats me up. Moving to bluetooth speaker, which if that comes alive at least it's small and I can smash it.
  6:45pm
Martinibomb:

I've been reading Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted world while listening
Avatar 6:46pm
Mr Fab:

Speaking of horror, looks like Peter Murphy suffered a heart attack and is canceling all 4 upcoming dates in NYC.
hope he doesn't join the undead too soon.
  6:47pm
Martinibomb:

I just read that as well... hoping for the best
Avatar 6:47pm
Otis Fodder:

The only "Undead" I want Peter Murphy joining, is "The Undead" from "Phantom of the Paradise"!
  6:48pm
Martinibomb:

I got the other Otis sitting here next to me
Avatar 6:55pm
Otis Fodder:

Thanks MB. Say hi to Otis. Off to chop some garlic.
Avatar 7:06pm
