If it makes you feel any better it's currently pouring with rain, blowing a gale, AND we have a sea mist so think that you can't see half of Brighton! :-)

Brighton sounds lovely. I'd love to visit it someday. We stayed in Oregon town Seaside, which has a carnival feel to it, a promenade, boardwalk, lots of amusement park type stands. It was somewhat crowded, but a real Summer holiday feel to it.
Avatar 2:25pm
worldsworstrecords:

haha! I may well come down to Brighton soon. I want to do some interviewing for my next book
Avatar 2:25pm
Mr Fab:

re: that Isabel Baker, I do recall the "folk masses" of my youth, where the girls with the long straight hair parted in the middle would play their acoustic guitars. Haven't been a church-goer in decades, so wonder if they still do that..?

Linda Lee:

my hero! hello! :-)

they probably have hip hop masses now, ha

Ricky Segall, Rodney Allen Ripley, and Mason Reese. The banes of my childhood ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Rich in Washington:

There's also a Rockaway Beach in Oregon. I spent a lot of time there as a kid, with long visits to my grandparent's little cottage on neighboring town Manhattan Beach. Did the early settlers all come from the East coast, or what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

WEIRD!!!!! You read my mind!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Rich in Washington:

I forgot about Rodney Allen Rippy!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm

Did Mason Reese ever record any music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Which one was the DQ kid? Rodney?
Avatar 2:29pm
Linda Lee:

my god. Rodney Allen Rippy.
do think they did, basically, Rich. the europeans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Not sure about music but Mason Reese was on a reality style show with his fiancee who ppears to be super young and not at all a gold digger.
Avatar 2:30pm
worldsworstrecords:

Yes, Rodney ate the burgers, the tubby little git
Avatar 2:31pm
Linda Lee:

Mason Reese had to be one of the homeliest child stars ever produced.
Avatar 2:31pm

Classic Dentist next
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Rich in Washington:

Lots of Scandahoovian logger settlers in that region. A fair amount of Finns. The Oregon coast has an interesting history. That's where my father's side of the family hails from.
Avatar 2:32pm

family: it's lovin' time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm

Avatar 2:32pm
Linda Lee:

not even appealingly homely, like a basset pup. just butt ugly.
not that i can cast stones, really. but still!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mason Reese looks like someone grafted his small boy face on a middle aged man :-(
Avatar 2:33pm
Linda Lee:

ouch. unpleasant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
Rich in Washington:

Child actors are like Easter ducklings. It often doesn't end well.
Avatar 2:35pm
Linda Lee:

that's doubly odd, GG, 'cause as a child he had an old man's face!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
Rich in Washington:

He's the same age of me. I not only feel old, but also feel much better looking, so there's that. THAT doesn't happen often, so I'll take it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
Rich in Washington:

DEATH DISC! Hurray!
Avatar 2:36pm
worldsworstrecords:

glad you approve, Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm

Ha! Radio Shack! They're rarer than white rhinos now. I saw and photographed one on my trip last week. It was in Clatskanie Oregon, if you are needing a 40' headphone extension cable.
Avatar 2:40pm
worldsworstrecords:

God, do they still exist? I thought they'd gone bust
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Now you've made me want a 40' headphone extension cable!
Avatar 2:40pm
Linda Lee:

well, i love this stones cover.really appropriately messy.
i'm also hearing 'honky tonk willy'.
Avatar 2:40pm
worldsworstrecords:

The British side of the chain was called Tandy: they disappeared from the High Street years ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Rich in Washington:

I think a few of the independently owned ones are sort of hanging on.
Avatar 2:41pm
Mr Fab:

Ferlin Husky is one of the greats from the classic country era, but WOW. that was hilariously awful. Kudos to you again, Darryl (I think?) for finding this stuff.
Avatar 2:41pm
worldsworstrecords:

haha! All I can hear now is Honky Tonk Willy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Tandy were Radio Shack??? I did not know that! God, I remember Tandy tho ... :-)
Avatar 2:42pm
Mr Fab:

I was reading about Radio Shack a while ago - pretty interesting how they had a corner on the PC market in the '80s and let it all slip away.
Avatar 2:42pm
Linda Lee:

i'm sorry, Darryl.
Tandy products were sold here, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes! Tandy! Radio Shack has a really interesting history. Also one of the most spectacularly poorly run franchises around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

A Leicester Fiesta?? lol
Avatar 2:43pm
worldsworstrecords:

Don't be sorry, Linda - that's hilarious :-)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
Rich in Washington:

My first ever stereo as a kid was a model Clarinette by Realistic/Radio Shack.
Avatar 2:44pm
Linda Lee:

early video games were by Tandy, am i right?
Avatar 2:45pm
Linda Lee:

wow.. this 'Governor George' record is just appalling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Rich in Washington:

I think Tandy/Radio Shack/Realistic had a lot of rebranded knock-off stuff made by bigger manufacturers, so I am pretty sure they had things like their own version of Pong, etc..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Rich in Washington:

My brother and I bought a synthesizer that was built by Moog but with Realistic branding. It was wonderful.
Avatar 2:47pm
Linda Lee:

his friends did not call Dr. King 'Martin Luther'. do think he's singing about the german professor.
Avatar 2:47pm
Linda Lee:

that's lovely, Rich!
Avatar 2:48pm

I think he's using some artistic license, Linda
