This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Avatar 7:06pm Flash Strap:

How was it Franco / Chresti?
Avatar 7:07pm Flash Strap:

Hi Fuzzy! I've always been obsessed with Forever Changes and Da Capo, but never went this deep on the s/t until i got a copy a couple months back
Avatar 7:08pm Flash Strap:

@rev: what you mean
Avatar 7:09pm Franco Twinkie:

With Arthur Lee, it always swerved madly between fantastic and frightening.

It's a "no entry" symbol!Flash
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm chresti:

*@at Flash
Avatar 7:14pm Franco Twinkie:

The funniest thing I ever heard was Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman interviewing Arthur Lee and just trying to get him to behave himself. Priceless!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Fuzzy:

3 Ts then 2 Bs sure to please!
Avatar 7:16pm Flash Strap:

@chresti: i'm hoping I just fixed it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm chresti:

It must be hard to behave around Howard K and Mark V
Avatar 7:16pm Flash Strap:

@Franco: oh i want to see that! they do great interviews
Avatar 7:18pm geezerette:

Delicately shake back my lace cuff to take some snuff.

Arthur Lee - Sun Pisces, Year of Wood Rooster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm chresti:

I feel like that grass awning is not secure
Avatar 7:21pm hyde:

whoa, geezerette!!!
Avatar 7:22pm hyde:

also, bless you
Avatar 7:23pm hyde:

the glowing pumpkin is a nice seasonal touch to the shhhhhh don't talk about it ok i won't
Avatar 7:23pm geezerette:

Hyyyyyyyyyde!!! Good to see you! :)
Avatar 7:23pm Flash Strap:

@chresti: I feel like a hermitage is either invulnerable to the elements or as ephemeral as a child's play fort, this one falls under the latter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

He can't mend it.
He's a Mendicant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm chresti:

Now we're going to have to shake the snuff from the lace, or snuff the lace directly
Avatar 7:24pm Franco Twinkie:

I met Johnny Echols once and told him I would probably hear his strangled guitar as the life was leaving my body. That's how strongly I feel about Live And Let LIve and A House Is Not A Motel.
Avatar 7:24pm Flash Strap:

@hyde: We talk about it now, we call it the Hellraiser, which is inconvenient for those of us that raise hell year-round
Avatar 7:25pm hyde:

@Flash not to mention the Clive Barker fan club
Avatar 7:26pm geezerette:

chresti, be careful; a little goes a long, long way.
Avatar 7:27pm Flash Strap:

Amazing, Franco. I'm with ya, he's amazing. Post-Echols Love records are very hard for me to care about, much as I try
Avatar 7:28pm hyde:

hey, waitaminnit. i'm not sure that i signed up for lace snuffing.
Avatar 7:28pm geezerette:

OK, spill the pepitas, how'd the pumpkins appear? What window have I missed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Forever Changes' - Baroque yet Balanced. & it took most of us decades to discover it!
Avatar 7:31pm geezerette:

Hyde, I was having a laff at Beau Brummels, even though they make me happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm chresti:

It appears after offering some lace powder to the Hellraiser
Avatar 7:31pm Flash Strap:

@Rev: truly truly a masterpiece, so special and unique
Avatar 7:32pm Flash Strap:

@Geeze: the only sane response to their Lord Byron act honestly
Avatar 7:32pm Franco Twinkie:

I have a different feeling about Love from the Blue Thumb period. I got those records when they first came out, and had not yet become an insufferable rock snob.
Avatar 7:34pm geezerette:

OH! Thanks, Chresti! (...absolutely no idea...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I can say I found the vinyl LP of 'Forever' before the yuppies snorted up the CD reissue...
Avatar 7:34pm geezerette:

@Evan, thanks for support!
Avatar 7:35pm Flash Strap:

that;s incredible Rev - I had to be content with the CD reissue until a few months ago when I inherited an LP copy. i actually have always preferred the alt. mix of the closing track though, to be honest, so the CD is still my friend as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Brummels were 'FolkRawk' in S.F. quite early. (The bYRdS hit early in S.F. - btw!...) Check 'Don't Talk to Strangers' by them: I think it's almost like the doors...
Avatar 7:36pm Franco Twinkie:

Sorry to say, but I gotta go. I could rattle on about Love in it's many permutations all night long, just ask Chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sure - but I can say I found 'Forever' quite independently of any Critic or anyone... Unlike 'Pet Sounds'. :) ...
Avatar 7:37pm Flash Strap:

Hate to say goodbye, Franco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm chresti:

The pumpkin mysteriously appears without warning sometimes. It first visited me last Monday night
Avatar 7:37pm Flash Strap:

must be nice, Rev
Avatar 7:37pm hyde:

@geez i love the Beau Brummels! i also especially like Bradley's Barn, which is full of crosscultural confusion
Avatar 7:38pm geezerette:

RevRab, you are a treasure. I mean it man. :)
Avatar 7:38pm Franco Twinkie:

I will stay long enough to hear Johnny Echols jump off the cliff at the end of this one. Thanks Flash!
Avatar 7:39pm hyde:

@revrab wow
Avatar 7:39pm Flash Strap:

@Franco: He really does, god i love it
Avatar 7:41pm geezerette:

Chresti, how funny!

Thanks, Hyde!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I mean - I heard 'She Comes In Colors' on the radio somewhere - & didn't know who it was for decades! Maybe 'Little Red Book'...hard to believe now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@geez: I seem to have a precarious relationship w/ treasure - to look @ my bank balance...but one is known by the company one keeps - they say...
Avatar 7:47pm geezerette:

Will still be listening / enjoying, but not commenting for awhile.
Trying to create order from chaos.

@RevRab, excellent company here, always. It's a grand room, this!
Avatar 7:49pm hyde:

good luck, geez!
Avatar 7:50pm Flash Strap:

Best of luck, Geeze!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm chresti:

My introduction (that I remember) to Little Black Book, was in LA in '76, performed by a band that my friends were in, Manuel and the Gardeners
Avatar 7:52pm Flash Strap:

Incredibly jealous you got to negotiate your own relationship with Forever Changes, Rev, at my age its critical status was well cemented. fortunately it lives up to its rep, but damn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm chresti:

See you geez!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm chresti:

A recording of it, that is @7:50
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm chresti:

Really enjoyable set!

Avatar 8:11pm Flash Strap:

Hi david D.!
Avatar 8:11pm northguineahills:

Didn't David Dichelle do a bunch of House Carpenter versions this week, or was it last?
Avatar 8:11pm northguineahills:

Speaking of the devil....
Avatar 8:12pm David D:

Hey Evan, enjoying the show from the beginning, but you got me out of my lurk mode with that one.
Avatar 8:12pm David D:

Avatar 8:13pm Flash Strap:

Damn David D., sounds like I need to catch up on yr archives! one of my favorite songs
Avatar 8:13pm Flash Strap:

honored to have unlurked you my dear comrade
Avatar 8:14pm David D:

I didn't play that version, there are so many good ones.
Avatar 8:16pm David D:

Late at night here, so I usually lurk - sometimes I even skulk, but in a good way.
Avatar 8:16pm Flash Strap:

i actually have another up my sleeve for later, but I just checked your playlist for it and I think I'm in the clear!
Avatar 8:18pm Flash Strap:

i'm almost always in lurk mode - if i'm not planning my own show i usually have my hands full in the studio and not much for commenting because of that
Avatar 8:20pm Flash Strap:

such a spooky lament, this
Avatar 8:20pm David D:

Anyhow, before I slip back into the dark of night, let me just say that this has been an excellent show, thanks!
Avatar 8:21pm Flash Strap:

thank you, friend. enjoy the night
Avatar 8:23pm northguineahills:

knew this had to be Flynt!
Avatar 8:23pm coelacanth∅:

i just switched computers and, as with my other one the image does not show. normally, with both machines, i click "view image" then return and refresh the page and the picture is visible.
when i just clicked view image gobble wanted me to sign in (which i'm not going to do)
- is the image on some kind of gooble application?
Avatar 8:25pm Flash Strap:

@C: huh weird, yeah I host with google photos but usually its not a problem
  8:26pm passiflora:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm doctorjazz:

Boy, talk about primitive...about as basic blues guitar as one canflail!
Avatar 8:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yeah, that's not a valid image link. And you should just use the new built-in image library instead!
Avatar 8:28pm coelacanth∅:

okay that explains it anyway. (i guess...i never had to sign in before, and i'm rarely signed in to google on this computer, which is my main for fmu streaming)
Avatar 8:29pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Go to adv. show options, Top Image field, and either feed it an actually public image URL (yours here is a private URL only for when you're signed into your own Google account), or save it to your computer and then use the upload option.
Avatar 8:29pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

(and then remove your Top HTML)
Avatar 8:31pm Flash Strap:

Hi Kenzo. Must be some weird settings change because I've done it the same way for like 5 years now
Avatar 8:32pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Even if it were a valid public URL, it's still much better to feed the URL to the new "top image" field than use the old way of pasting HTML into the "top HTML" field.
Avatar 8:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Your past playlist images are all broken because Google considers the URL you've used as private, for your signed-in browser only. Maybe it used to consider your account public. But even if this weren't the case, entering a URL in the Top Image field is still better.
Avatar 8:35pm Flash Strap:

i hear ya, i started doing that way back because it actually was easier, i suppose with the new feature it's no longer the case
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm doctorjazz:

The famous Neil 1 note solo.!
Avatar 8:38pm Flash Strap:

some of my favorite guitar right here, so inspired
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm doctorjazz:

The opening guitar slinging is cool indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm doctorjazz:

Always loved this album!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm doctorjazz:

(Down By the River is actually the famous 1 note solo, I sit here embarrassed...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm doctorjazz:

Ok gotta run, thanks, Evan!
Avatar 8:50pm TDK60:

How dare I be so late to such proceedings; Buffy, V.D. Parks, etc!
Avatar 8:54pm Flash Strap:

Adios Doc!
Avatar 8:55pm TDK60:

Metal Machine Music is rather dainty afternoon tea music, right?
Avatar 8:55pm Flash Strap:

Hi TDK! it's basically Vivaldi
Avatar 9:13pm Flash Strap:

whoo this one is a long walk
Avatar 9:20pm northguineahills:

I think I remember reading some muttering that the only reason that Tony Conrad became famous was b/c he recorded w/ German rock band. How many people anywhere in 1973 had heard of Faust?
Avatar 9:22pm Flash Strap:

I think they were pretty well known in Europe by then, actually. Their 2nd record did fairly well, and the critics were big on them from the jump
Avatar 9:22pm northguineahills:

No one accused either of getting famous when Tony recorded w/ Gastr del Sol....
Avatar 9:24pm Flash Strap:

I actually haven't heard much else of his, outside the Angus Maclise stuff
Avatar 9:27pm TDK60:

I knew some blooz would come oozing thru the sitars.
Avatar 9:27pm Flash Strap:

with Ry Cooder in the mix it's inevitable
Avatar 9:30pm Flash Strap:

such a great dopey acid fried cover: img.discogs.com...
Avatar 9:30pm TDK60:

..ah, Mr. Cooder here, huh.
Avatar 9:31pm Flash Strap:

this whole ensemble is wrecking crew guys, basically. Mike Deasy seems to be the point man
Avatar 9:33pm TDK60:

..was that a vox humana there? sorta sounds like mellotron but I think is older?
Avatar 9:34pm Flash Strap:

I was curious about that too, but can't find anything that;s more specific than keyboards
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm chresti:

Nice slice of Donovan there.
Avatar 9:42pm TDK60:

I'm practicing to learn a song from this Donovan Flower-to-Garden album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm chresti:

good songs to learn it seems
Avatar 9:45pm Flash Strap:

Which one, TDK?
Avatar 9:45pm TDK60:

..the one I'm working on is Epistle To Derroll.
Avatar 9:45pm Flash Strap:

much agreed chresti

great one TDK

Avatar 9:55pm Flash Strap:

..thanks DJ Flash. Loved the folk/rock/etc.
