Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

I thought that volume was low!
  7:25pm Mary WIng:

Hi Bronwyn! You are very LOUD and the bed music is very QUIET. :-)
Avatar 7:26pm Scraps:

That is true
  7:27pm John from Florham park:

@mary wing wonder if julie from the dark night of the soul is going to show up
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Bronwyn - If you had a device you could use to calibrate the levels, such as a hotel desk bell, you could use that to square things up. But that scheme has already been taken. Ding!
Avatar 7:30pm Scraps:

Concept albums I would think make sense for Acid Jazz Hands....
  7:30pm Doug Schulkind:

You sound FINE!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:30pm Webhamster Henry:

Yes, the music was quiet - the mic is hot. Overmodulating a little.
  7:31pm Doug Schulkind:

We heard you the whole time and it sounded fine. Really!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Webhamster Henry:

Jacques Brel was a huge fan of LaMancha.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:34pm diciassette:

Ouaissss!
  7:35pm Mary Wing:

If you are in studio C, the levels on the board are always low; look at the levels on the SAMcast application instead and see what the music levels are registering as before you go on mic. (So says the notorious low-talker). :-) The music levels have been good!
Avatar 7:37pm Scraps:

Oh so love Sweet Charity

My wife and daughter just saw Hadestown last weekend. Loved loved loved it.
Avatar 7:44pm Scraps:

Anais Mitchell, excellent!!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:50pm doctorjazz:

The Bands Visit, first one of these I saw. Loved the music, not the show so much.
  7:51pm Mary Wing:

The movie was excellent, though.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:53pm doctorjazz:

I think that was the problem, I had seem the movie before the show, and really had high expectations for the show. It didn't capture the feelings the movie did.
  7:54pm Scraps:

I didn’t know Hadestown was a musical now. I loved it as just a concept album
  7:55pm Scraps:

SONDHEIM
  7:59pm Scraps:

I finally got into musicals through Sondheim. I sniffed at musicals for a long time, like my generation did (and does), and Sondheim blew my perception-doors down, so that I was able to appreciate other good musicals.
  8:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Sondheim makes me think Company, which makes me think D.A Pennebaker’s “making of the cast album” documentary, which makes me think D.A. Pennebaker, which makes me think about death. So, by transitive property, Sondheim makes me think about death.
  8:06pm WebHamster Henry:

Pacific overtures has lots of delights in it.
  8:08pm Scraps:

Yeah. Sondheim makes me think of late wife Velma, so death, etc.

Ah.... like I said the last time you played this, this is one of my ten favorite Sondheim songs. Death, again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i <3 pacific overtures. this is another song that makes me want to throw out every lyric i've ever written. 7 minutes long and not a second wasted
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Have some tea, my Lord
Some chrysanthemum tea
It's a tangled situation
As your father would agree
And it mightn't be so tangled
If you hadn't had him strangled —
But I fear that I stray, my Lord

i mean come on.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:10pm doctorjazz:

Have to hear Sondheim stuff a lot to get acclimated. My daughter was in Sweeney Todd and Into The Woods, which I came to appreciate hearing it over and over. This does sound a lot like them...
  8:10pm Doug Schulkind:

The advantages of floating in the middle of the, er, Stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@doctorjazz: i've been in both of those too! i was snow white in into the woods and the beggar woman in sweeney. who did your daughter play?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@Doug: YES OMG
Avatar 8:12pm geezerette:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:12pm diciassette:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:13pm doctorjazz:

She was Beggar Woman as well..in Into The Woods she was Red Riding Hood.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:15pm diciassette:

I LOVE BUGSY MALONE
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:16pm doctorjazz:

What's the bed music? Like it.
  8:17pm Scraps:

I loved Bugsy Malone. Don’t understand why it summoned such hatred.
Avatar 8:17pm geezerette:

We saw Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou in Sweeny. Intense, sad, funny, peak experience stuff! Authentic Grand Guignol.
  8:21pm Scraps:

Me and Velma saw B.D. Wong in Pacific Overtures. It was awesome.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:21pm doctorjazz:

Bronwyn, did you still perform in shows?

Avatar 8:27pm geezerette:

Assassins must have been incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:29pm doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Based on The Simpsons' "Monorail" sing?
  8:36pm Scraps:

Bronwyn, Rock Island
Avatar 8:36pm geezerette:

Can not imagine being at this sales meeting without being drunk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i hope that when the music man revival opens next october they open with "talk about a rocket" instead of the song it rips off, "rock island" (the music man's opening number)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@scraps: you are RIGHT!! the only cool part in the music man imo and im excited to see it if i can somehow get tix to the revival next year
  8:38pm Scraps:

The Music Man is probably my favorite musical ever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Bronwyn Bishop:

aw im sorry i insulted it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i think i have an aversion to it bc we had to watch it over and over in high school when our teachers didn't feel like teaching
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:40pm doctorjazz:

Hey, Bronwyn, if you get a musical produced, do I have an actor for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Bronwyn Bishop:

haha doctorjazz i was going to ask if your daughter wanted to be in my show (unless you mean someone else). there is one female role in the show i'm producing next year BUT i can only pay each actor about $50 each (but it is a very amateur production which would not be a big time suck...)
  8:42pm Scraps:

Though some of it (the backing vocal near the end parodying “TROUBLE, trouble, trouble”) is parodying “You Got Trouble”....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i meant $50 per performance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Bronwyn Bishop:

so like $150 each
  8:44pm Scraps:

Ha, I hadn’t seen your putdown, Bronwyn, before I said The Music Man was my favorite musical. ;-)
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:46pm diciassette:

Meredith Wilson was my first (and long gone) celebrity autograph!
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:47pm doctorjazz:

Well, unless she gets get but Broadway break, she'd be interested. Should I send you my info to get the details (Doug, Jeff G, Uncle Michael, and many other DJs have it as well).
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:48pm doctorjazz:

(Do I get a cut as agent...?)
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 8:50pm diciassette:

Hey this song is actually about booze. Without elbows how would we get the booze inside us?
  8:53pm Doug Schulkind:

@diciasette if the autograph is signed “Wilson,” I hate to tell you it’s a fake.
  8:54pm Scraps:
