Favoriting Acid Jazz Hands with Bronwyn Bishop: Playlist from December 13, 2019 Favoriting

Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm

ELEPHANT CALF was like a play within a play / intermission piece from A MAN'S A MAN
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm

Joe Raposo of Sesame Street fame.

59 cents reminds me of “7 1/2 cents” from The Pajama Game, another labor musical

One comment (while waiting for computer to reboot) the music is much lower than the stream was and when you were talking on the break. When you were talking the level was good. Now had to bring volume from 4 to 7 to hear the music at a moderate level.
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:29pm

Don't turn it up TOO much! I don't mind adjusting my volume if there's no distortion.

That's just really weird (thus Marion Williams)...she does have an amazing voice, though.
🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
WR:

A little bit louder, yes. Not big deal, I just want to be able to crank it up to window rattling level when finished with work.
🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
WR:

That's funny, Ben Folds was definitely involved. Amanda Palmer is streaming her concert live from London tomorrow.

Sounds like Selma Diamond in a musical
Avatar 🎭 Swag For Life Member 7:41pm

I wonder if Ellen Foley was/is in musicals..
Avatar 7:42pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

@WHenry: all those books look just like folkways album covers, i love them!!
Avatar 7:44pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

@diciassette: ellen foley was the original witch in into the woods in the out of town tryouts but then bernadette peters (whom we are about to hear from) replaced her! but not before betty buckley also took a crack at it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm

Working was based on a Studs Turkel non-fiction book.

I love this show, as even though I'm not into most musical's music since I was been born (w/ some very notable exceptions), I often absent mindedly whistle old show tunes, and you've shown me some recent ones that cook it right, and introduce me some old ones I was ignorant.
Avatar 8:35pm
northguineahills:

que chinga…. a wee bit better (weird typo)
Avatar 8:36pm
northguineahills:

ack, musicals, not musical's ( no can spell or grammar)
Avatar 8:37pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

aw thanks ngh!!! so glad you're enjoying the show, i do like to showcase interesting modern musicals since sometimes it can seem like they're not making them anymore if you go by the most popular ones
Avatar 8:39pm

My normie bros, are infatuated w/ Hamilton, and play the sndtrk all the time. It's rather decent. I'm just happy they're listening to music (they rarely do so), and learning history.
