Hey Kris. Sorry I missed the show last week. I passed out after wandering around NYC all day. I was listening to that show earlier today and was struck by Misa’s heartfelt mashup of O Tanenbaum & O Canada and thought I heard you attempt to pronounce chutzpah in regards to her performance. If that’s correct, it was worse than your attempt at apogee. I see my fellow listeners were too polite to say anything but I felt it my duty to point it out. Looking forward to the show.

hahahahaha, yep, chutzpah may have been muttered! Hope you enjoyed NYC.

It was good. The weather stayed relatively mild all week so was happy. I went to a James Brown DJ tribute night which was a lot of fun. Hadn’t really heard Mr Brown on a good system before. DJ Suspect from Paris was in town and put together a really tight set which some solid turntablism and live mixing. It was nice to see my family and an old friend who I hadn’t seen in ten years or so.

I was supposed to go see Durand Jones open for the Revivalists tonight but feeling under the weather and just couldn’t deal with going downtown on New Years. My friend and works at the new Fillmore at the Harrahs so I was on the guest list. So at least I didn’t throw away a bunch of money.

I can only imagine the shitshow that is the area around Harrahs on NYE, I'd pass on that too!!

It’s been going nuts for hours and will continue into tomorrow. You can’t buy them in Orleans Parish but there’s about five stores in Gretna on the West Bank right past the parish line.

Still off on the pronunciation. You can repeat after the recording. www.merriam-webster.com...

Made a huge pot of black eyed peas and another huge pot of collards to bring over to my friend’s tomorrow to watch Michigan Alabama with a bunch of people. I have no interest in the pointless football game but will enjoy eating my meaty beans and greens.

Carmichael:

My wife told me about black eyed peas and the new year. Being Irish, I had no clue.

It was on the shelf at the library near my parents and I saw it when I went to borrow some games for my switch. I spent more time reading the book than playing any of the games. I wish the library here would buy video games for borrowing.

Kris there’s an organization called SABR, Society of American Baseball Research, that has been around for almost 50 years. Their name was used to create the word sabermetrics which is the empirical study of Baseball.

My dad (and I) are from Ireland, and he buried himself in baseball minutiae. That’s how I know about Satchel Paige, Nap Lajoie and the Philadelphia A’s million dollar infield. Obscure stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Matt from New Orleans:

There was a period of time where I considered working in baseball but the late 90s were not a time that most baseball organizations embraced the research being done by people like Bill James. Now it’s a much different story but I’ve moved on. I used to write stats based articles and blog posts in the mid to late 90s for various defunct entities.
