A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Working -- without audience -- with improv group years ago, I threw a Fellini references into a game/scene where film critics do a Siskel/Ebert thing after an improv movie scene. Member of the troupe said no one would get that reference and you'd lose audience with it. And I was all like "Huh-whaaaa...?" No, no...I ain't settin' the bar THAT low! The objector was fairly young but funny and fairly aware of popular culture going back some years. How he missed the boat...and frequent mentions and wide enduring currency...I don't know.
