Almost didn't make it to air today. My router was misbehaving and didn't want to boot all the way up. Third try was the charm!

Avatar 3:12pm John from NP:

Damn technology! Glad you got it goin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Funky16Corners:

Audio issue on this end. Technology is not my friend this afternoon.

(though i won't get to be here solid through)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Funky16Corners:

I wanted to make sure you heard all of this one. One of my all time favorite 45s.
Avatar 3:13pm Erica:

I'm not doing too well either. Trying to get over a virus.

Avatar 3:20pm John from NP:

Wow, who knew that I like Cher so much. Ima diggin it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Funky16Corners:

Lots of great stuff on her early solo albums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm doctorjazz:

Twiggy sounds a bit like Nico...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey everybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah, this is very much in the mode of Nico's Immediate 45s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Funky16Corners:

Hello Phillippe!
Avatar 3:24pm Erica:

That Twiggy record was cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - The other side is really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey coelacanth, I've been multi-tasking most of the week so I haven't been on the boards much, but I believe I saw that you've been doing recordings of creatures out in the wild. Is that true?
Avatar 3:26pm Sem:

Hiya, Larry, and Testimonials. And, Testamillenials. And so on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Funky16Corners:

Anyone recognize this song (from a much bigger hit)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Funky16Corners:

With a really different arrangement
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Funky16Corners:

It was an early version of this: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 3:32pm coelacanth∅:

hello Phillippe sorry, i'm multitasking right now! yeah been doing that for most of my life! but only with decent equipment since 2011 or so.
Avatar 3:36pm Erica:

Bart: Leslie who?
Marge: Uggams
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Phillippe Bastille:

That's pretty cool. By decent equipment, what do you mean?
Avatar 3:43pm coelacanth∅:

- by industry standards, "just decent"!
...low-budget-good; amateur-decent"...
a zoom h4n www.zoom-na.com...
Avatar 3:47pm coelacanth∅:

i love it. it picks up things i cannot hear. (and my hearing is still in good shape) super easy to use, once you learn how.
i still don't know how to use the majority of it's functions, as i've never thought i needed to use them.
one thing it can do is record in 4-channel multitrack (all at once) i might learn to use that feature.
Avatar 3:50pm Erica:

Just heard the original version yesterday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Funky16Corners:

The Len Barry? One of my faves!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

That looks pretty cool. My youngest (20) has been getting into wildlife photography, and I think he'd get into capturing sounds as well. We're about 4 good rock tosses from the Chesapeake Bay, so there are a lot of birds around. We're also right next to a little community park on our cove, so it get pretty chatty in the backyard.
Avatar 3:54pm Erica:

Yup Larry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

I came across a 4 channel TASCAM analog recorder a few months back in a thrift store that I picked up for a musician friend of my son's who never claimed it. Looks like it would be fun for a Daniel Johnston type.
Avatar 3:58pm Mod Mokka Matti:

Hello everyone - just dialing in the stream now. Need something to take my mind off how lousy the weather is out this way. I think this will do the trick.
3:59pm Dave in St Albans UK:

Hi Larry. What a mix of female vocals! This show plays like a "best of" but mamy times more enjoyable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Funky16Corners:

MMM! Dave! Glad you're digging it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Phillippe Bastille:

Damn, this is good. Taking me back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm doctorjazz:

Like this version of "...Broken Hearted"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Funky16Corners:

Baby Washington was a great singer.
Avatar 4:19pm Erica:

Great singer, unusual arrangement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Funky16Corners:

Big ups to Uncle Michael for hepping me to this Carmen McRae album!
Avatar 4:20pm Erica:

I don't mean the instrumentation, but the way the lyrics were rearranged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Funky16Corners:

Yes, it's nice to hear someone cover a popular song in a new way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm doctorjazz:

Of Rolling Stones Game, I believe.
Avatar 4:33pm coelacanth∅:

Phillippe @3.52, 3.56 i could only encourage him. i bought mine when i'd decided i've wasted too much time not doing what i love -read about the h4n, could afford it and bought it; but now you can get that same one for 1/2 what i paid - and there are other comparable ones, like the tascam...

that tascam you got -cassette?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Funky16Corners:

@Doc - Yes indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Phillippe Bastille:

yep. No cables or adapter so I'm not sure it even works. looks mint though.
Avatar 4:37pm coelacanth∅:

damn, i just missed "i want you". i'm supposing it's the beatles song -which i just was told last week by my mostly crap-liking niece was 1 of her 2 favorite beatles songs. that's good news!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Funky16Corners:

@C - No, Tony Joe White song
Avatar 4:38pm coelacanth∅:

oh - i was thinking it could've been the Dylan song too, though i doubted it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Funky16Corners:

This is a side-long medley from Tami Lynn's 1972 album. An absolute work of art IMHO. Songs by Loretta Lynn, the Supremes, Betty Harris and the Patterson Singers.
Avatar 4:40pm coelacanth∅:

Phillippe you could probably find the a/c adapter on ebay for not much. people throw those things out every minute.
...i might even have one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Funky16Corners:

There's a big market in adapters/cables for older hardware. I had to find a charger for an ancient MP3 player and found it on Amazon
Avatar 4:43pm coelacanth∅:

i have a 1/2 dozen un-spoken-for adapters at home and my sister's got a drawer full of 'em. the biggest challenge will probably be finding the right shape input.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Phillippe Bastille:

We used to have a pretty decent sized box of adapters without things to adapt to, but we tossed it when we downsized. The next owner will be on their own to find one.
Avatar 4:44pm coelacanth∅:

yeah my sister will probably throw all hers out soon, as she's getting a divorce and selling the house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Funky16Corners:

The last time I re-did my computer/broadcast set up, I found an AC adapter on the floor and could not figure out what it had been plugged into. Maybe a USB hub? Maybe an old external hard drive? It remains a mystery.
Avatar 4:45pm coelacanth∅:

i can't help but think this Tami Lynn suite was inspired by Isaac Hayes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hmm, don't let her do anything rash. Extra adapters in a kitchen drawer can be a selling point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Funky16Corners:

@C - Not out of the question. He was working that vibe heavily at the time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Larry We have three sons eight years apart in age. Pretty darn sure about 60% of the unclaimed chargers went to some sort of R/C car. No two were the same.
Avatar 4:50pm Sem:

Just a killing show this afternoon. So happy to have been along to hear it all. Thanks, Larry. Hope to see you and all next time round the track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Larry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Phillippe Bastille:

This Tami Lynn is splendid
Avatar 4:50pm Erica:

I take it this suite is the last thing playing in this set as it's pretty long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Sem! Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm doctorjazz:

I second Phillippe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - Yes, this is the closer
Avatar 4:51pm coelacanth∅:

she's got a house full of stuff, and an adapter has to match power specs as well as plug shape...i've had to buy 2 adapters over the past 5 years despite all these here for the taking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Funky16Corners:

When I first bought this record, I edited the suite down into individual songs, but you really need to hear the whole thing together
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Funky16Corners:

@Phillippe - My sons are 13 and 16, Out house is similarly afflicted with stray cords
Avatar 4:52pm Erica:

And it starts soft and goes out with a bang.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - Yes, and the rest of the album is weirdly assembled, an old track from 1965, and some stuff by another producer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Phillippe Bastille:

@coelacanth my bride found an adapter kit a few years back that let you change the plug size and shape, but you still needed to match voltage. Of course, we lost that after the kids discovered it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

this is totally glorious
Avatar 4:59pm coelacanth∅:

sounds like a handy device though, if you can change output and hz...i bought one many years ago to use with 2-3 different devices; but mainly for a very high-end "walkman"
(sanyo stereo cassette recorder/player)
it worked but sometimes buzzed a lot!
Avatar 4:59pm Erica:

Cool show Larry! Time for me to rest and get better.
Avatar 5:00pm Brian in UK:

Hello F16C, bit late. See you got Sharon Tandy on.
Avatar 5:00pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Larry! take care y'all
Avatar 5:00pm John from NP:

See you next week Larry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Larry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks Erica! Feel better. We have two sick people in this house right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

THANKS!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Funky16Corners:

Thanks C, John, Phillippe, Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Brian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Funky16Corners:

I'm gonna go upstairs and cook them some dinner when I'm done!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Funky16Corners:
