Productivity did shoot up here at the end of the day. Conductivity, too, for some reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Carmichael:

I'm writing consulting agreements to this show. My IT guy freaked out when he walked in during Reich. I think he does it on purpose now ...

In your film round up please mention that a rare Godard movie Made In USA is showing at Film Forum tomorrow, Sunday and Wednesday as part of a tribute to Anna Karina.

Another movie recommendation from Fabio! I went to Seven Beauties at Metrograph the other week and it was great. Thanks man.
Avatar 4:40pm TDK60:

Hi Fabio and radio enthusiasts.
Avatar 4:42pm mariano:

Ooh, saw the extended version of Exorcist in the early aughts when they ran it in theaters. Has that terrifying spider-walk down the stairs (if you've seen it you'll know what I mean).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Handy Haversack:

Heading home. Will try to catch up from there. Thanks, Fabio!
  4:44pm William Main:

The Anna Karina film I would most like to see again is Visconti's adaptation of Camus' The Stranger. I saw it a long time ago, but apparently there is some kind of dispute with Camus' estate. There is a faded dubbed version available on Youtube.
  4:44pm Head Chef:

No pussyfooting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Rich in Washington:

I too saw The Exorcist redux. That part genuinely scared me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm steveo:

what's ux? i thought it was redrum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Rich in Washington:

I saw it in a suburban plex type theater filled with a bunch of bored teenagers. They seemed to think the movie was funny. I think some of the added effects were completely unnecessary.
Avatar 4:46pm Fredericks:

This Fripp and Eno sounds like a mid-60s Dylan album with a very quiet skip. And now Robert Fripp is improvising over it.
Avatar 4:47pm Snoochienucci:

been a busy day... barely had time to chat on the boards! hope everyones doing good. cool set so far fabs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Rich in Washington:

The No Pussyfooting sessions were in some ways inspired by Steve Reich and Terry Riley's tape works.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm steveo:

i recently asked my dear spouse to put fripp into her spotify machine and it was not pretty; spotify is bad at fripping
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Rich in Washington:

Did she say 'NO FRIPPING WAY!"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm steveo:

she did not, haha. she is open to suggestions, but not to torture
  4:51pm Brendan:

Texas Chainsaw Ii on TCM Sat at 3:30 am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Rich in Washington:

I can sometimes get away with something proggy on our living room stream-o machine but once it gets weird/repetitive/post-punkish, the missus complaineth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Stanley:

No Pussyfooting.
Of course.
  4:52pm nic:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Rich in Washington:

Oh man. I haven't seen TCMII since it came out!
Avatar 4:53pm slugluv1313:

oh bummer, missed the film recommendations!
@ mariano -- i have not seen the extended Exorcist but now i know i MUST, for that spider walk!
No Pussyfooting YES!!!
Avatar 4:53pm TDK60:

When this came out. what- '74?, seemed ahead of the times at least in terms of rock listener me back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm brainiac:

Eno biographer Eric Tamm gave an opinion of this piece that amounted to: "Too many notes."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Rich in Washington:

It was recorded in one take. Eno was showing his tape delay setup to Fripp, who was visiting his studio. If it sounds a little over Frippery, he was essentially doing what one does with guitar pedals in Guitar Center, but with tape rolling.
  5:00pm William Main:

The Exorcist is one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen. It makes no sense at all. For a film on demonism see the vastly superior Night of the Demon by Jacques Tourneur. I think you can find it online.
  5:03pm Brendan:

My fave Kirk Douglass role in Lust for Life (Sat. aft on TCM)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Tennessee Tuxedo canna Failure !!...
Avatar 5:07pm coelacanth∅:

i just missed (no pussyfooting) (misspelled on the playlist!)
but i always thought it was another sleazy Fripp maneuver that it came to be called "Frippertronics"; as i felt, and feel, confident that the technique was all or mostly Eno's creation.
Avatar 5:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Rich in Washington:

@William Main: I love Night of the Demon! I've never found Exorcist particularly frightening. There are some visceral thrills, to be sure, but I sort of prefer films which slowly draw you through a process of disbelief, such as the aforementioned NotD, or Rosemary's Baby and especially the fairly recent The Witch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Rich in Washington:

@coelacanth∅: I don't think Eno minded. They collaborated quite a bit before and after. I think Fripp's guitar approach perhaps counted as his contribution. Besides, Eno sort of took credit for inventing Ambient Music without crediting Judy Nylon.
Avatar 5:24pm Hatter:

night time in the UK, set sounds good under a dark sky
Avatar 5:27pm slugluv1313:

may have seen Night of the Demon when i was a kid? (was its US release ever shown of Creature Features, Chiller Theater?)
in the meantime, will look for it online -- library has it but it is "in storage"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm brainiac:

Here 'tis www.dailymotion.com...
  5:29pm William Main:

@Rich in Washington: I'm glad you concur re Night of the Demon. I Walked with a Zombie is another Tourneur film I want to catch up with.
Avatar 5:30pm slugluv1313:

@ brainiac -- yes! that is what i just found too, thank-you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm common:

Avatar 5:33pm coelacanth∅:

Rich no i don't think Eno minded; in fact i'd bet he coined the term.
still it seems sleazy to me that Fripp would let it stick, instead of coming up with another, less one-sided name for it.
just my opinion -which is colored by other unsavory things Fripp has done.

for the record i still like his playing and compositional input, from that era anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Rich in Washington:

I believe its US title was Curse of the Demon and it had a slightly different edit. I'm not sure which one I've seen - I believe it may have been the UK Night of' version. It's really good.
  5:34pm nic:

love Anne !!!
Avatar 5:34pm coelacanth∅:

(...did Brian Eno ever claim to have invented "ambient music"?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Saw this tidbit the other day: a sonic representation of the solar wind: apod.nasa.gov...
Avatar 5:38pm coelacanth∅:

(and, not to dwell, but there's this:) "Nylon is the orderly, ergonomic Judy of Brian Eno's song "Back in Judy's Jungle", on his 1974 LP Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy).[4] Moreover, in his legendary account of how the genesis of ambient music came about, which first appeared on the back cover of his 1975 LP Discreet Music, Eno anecdotally credits Nylon."
  5:39pm Brendan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Rich in Washington:

@coelacanth∅:Not really. I was being facetious. I don't think he's usually been pretty forthcoming about his inspirations. I DID recently read something where Nylon was talking about being marginalized out of avant garde circles in favor of men, but I think it was more about the tongue wagging of music press, rather than any individual players. Which I agree with. Female artists tend to get ignored over relatively mediocre male artists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Rich in Washington:

TYPO: " I DO think he's been pretty forthcoming.."
Avatar 5:43pm slugluv1313:

@ coelacanthø -- fascinating! i had no idea
@ Rich in Washington -- yes, two different titles and edits for the film
doing my homework and getting a biography on Tourneur from the library
  5:43pm Brendan:

Seeing a supernova in my lifetime would be incredible.I think the Chinese recorded seeing a supernova about 1000 years ago. I think the remnants of that one or what is known as the crab nebula today
Avatar 5:43pm coelacanth∅:

Ken -very cool.

Rich yeah probably marginalized less and less -and still it's bad.
Avatar 5:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:
