The Anna Karina film I would most like to see again is Visconti's adaptation of Camus' The Stranger. I saw it a long time ago, but apparently there is some kind of dispute with Camus' estate. There is a faded dubbed version available on Youtube.

I saw it in a suburban plex type theater filled with a bunch of bored teenagers. They seemed to think the movie was funny. I think some of the added effects were completely unnecessary.

This Fripp and Eno sounds like a mid-60s Dylan album with a very quiet skip. And now Robert Fripp is improvising over it.

Avatar 4:53pm

Eno biographer Eric Tamm gave an opinion of this piece that amounted to: "Too many notes."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
Rich in Washington:

It was recorded in one take. Eno was showing his tape delay setup to Fripp, who was visiting his studio. If it sounds a little over Frippery, he was essentially doing what one does with guitar pedals in Guitar Center, but with tape rolling.

William Main:

The Exorcist is one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen. It makes no sense at all. For a film on demonism see the vastly superior Night of the Demon by Jacques Tourneur. I think you can find it online.

i just missed (no pussyfooting) (misspelled on the playlist!)
but i always thought it was another sleazy Fripp maneuver that it came to be called "Frippertronics"; as i felt, and feel, confident that the technique was all or mostly Eno's creation.
Avatar 🎸 5:15pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

DIGGING.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm
Rich in Washington:

@William Main: I love Night of the Demon! I've never found Exorcist particularly frightening. There are some visceral thrills, to be sure, but I sort of prefer films which slowly draw you through a process of disbelief, such as the aforementioned NotD, or Rosemary's Baby and especially the fairly recent The Witch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
Rich in Washington:

@coelacanth∅: I don't think Eno minded. They collaborated quite a bit before and after. I think Fripp's guitar approach perhaps counted as his contribution. Besides, Eno sort of took credit for inventing Ambient Music without crediting Judy Nylon.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm
coelacanth∅:

Rich no i don't think Eno minded; in fact i'd bet he coined the term.
still it seems sleazy to me that Fripp would let it stick, instead of coming up with another, less one-sided name for it.
just my opinion -which is colored by other unsavory things Fripp has done.

for the record i still like his playing and compositional input, from that era anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm
Rich in Washington:

I believe its US title was Curse of the Demon and it had a slightly different edit. I'm not sure which one I've seen - I believe it may have been the UK Night of' version. It's really good.

(and, not to dwell, but there's this:) "Nylon is the orderly, ergonomic Judy of Brian Eno's song "Back in Judy's Jungle", on his 1974 LP Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy).[4] Moreover, in his legendary account of how the genesis of ambient music came about, which first appeared on the back cover of his 1975 LP Discreet Music, Eno anecdotally credits Nylon."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
Rich in Washington:

@coelacanth∅:Not really. I was being facetious. I don't think he's usually been pretty forthcoming about his inspirations. I DID recently read something where Nylon was talking about being marginalized out of avant garde circles in favor of men, but I think it was more about the tongue wagging of music press, rather than any individual players. Which I agree with. Female artists tend to get ignored over relatively mediocre male artists.
