The funny part though was when Ken asked the callers to imitate said shows: would make such a great Fabio or Bryce episode to take all those clips and put them together.

@KenW: I love the noise/abstract shows too. In general I have a policy of listening to whatever FMU's dishing out because that's how I learn and hopefully transcend my biases and limitations.

@Handy: Yeah, that one, and there was another one making static-y sounds with her mouth, then Ken put on the reverb. Sounded pretty cool, I thought.

@ mariano, yes, that's excellent policy, I've been listening since the late 80s and agree,,,, it's just that for my own personal taste, Fabio and Bryce consistently turn me on to the more experimental stuff that completely blows my mind week and week,,,,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
G:

WFMU is where I finally "got" abstract/noise music. I find that I kind of go into a focused trance on whatever it is that I'm working on, typing at the keyboard. Works for me. -- Not to mention the insights into what is and isn't really "music," which is useful for the Aesthetics course I teach.

@crateslinger: I can stomach 7sd, even when they are inanely stupid. There is one program, I won't mention, which I still think has the characteristics I listed above which I have turned off before, but I might be biased as said dj was less then friendly as my friend and I were cleaning up our gear after playing in studio A.

crateslinger yeah if i have it on at the beginning of garbage time -which isn't likely because of what it follows, i turn it off as soon as said sabbath song starts, yes, but then i'll come back around 9.30 and stay (taking a break at 11, of course!)
