Hi Kris. I passed out sometime after 8:30 last week. I listened during the week. Lots of good tunes. Noticed you didn’t play any Robert Parker.

I almost went to see Raphael Saadiq tonight but when I found out he wasn’t going on till after 10 at the earliest I decided against it. My friend works at the venue and texted me earlier to see if I wanted to go.

He had a two solid openers as well. It would have been fun but I couldn’t get a single friend to be my plus one.

I find when I have less invested in a song that I’m more open to covers

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Little Danny:

@Matt: I'm pleased to be associated with the song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Pretty much. I forgot Roy Brown released it first but I thinks it’s fair to call a song Dave & Fats wrote and had a hit with to say it’s a Fats Domino song.

Mr. Lee is such a winner of a song...a familiar direction/style, but so happily its own thing.

The Dixie Cups still sound great. Only one original member but one of the Neville sisters is part of the group.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I’m wrong. The Hawkins sisters are both original. Just Althegra isn’t
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm

It if it had been successful, young actors and others hustling to make NY rent could expand beyond hired dog-walking to hired doo-saucing.

Matt from New Orleans:

My buddy Richie aka Maharishi HiFi did a Studio One show in honor of what would have been Coxsone’s 88 birthday. It was really good. Listened to it earlier today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Matt from New Orleans:

My cousin was really into reggae in the 80s and she insisted on going to Coxsone’s studio in Brooklyn. At that time, the area of Brooklyn was pretty much a war zone as competing drug operations fought over turf. My dad insisted on taking her and I went along. Coxsone was a true gentleman and he had no sessions booked that day so he just told us stories. I had no fucking clue who he was at the time as I was maybe 8 or 9. She bought a bunch of records and we left. As soon as we step outside, one junkie decides to stab his other junkie buddy for no apparent reason as they hadn’t been arguing. Crazy day.
