Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from January 31, 2020 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

@UM: I made something like potatoes O'Brien with rosemary picked out of our garden, then cooked eggs sunnyside up in the middle of it, with chorizo sausages on the side. Defib kit at the ready.

Thank you Michael. I gotta split early and pay my moms water bill RIGHT NOW, followed by a Thai seafood curry before the lunch rush.

nice!

I love to cook. My most recent challenge is satisfying a 6-yr-old. Anchovies, kalamata olives, and Thai fish soup have passed muster, among other things.

HURRY, Franco!

I hear you can use a defib kit, in a pinch, to harden the caramel on a crème brûlée.

But can you use it to get Maud into the perfumed garden, @βrian?

I'll stand up and call out, "FMU...? Uncle Michael fans? Right....right? Yah!"

Sounds like your 6 year old has well developed taste, Brian.

Durn, that's twangy!

Do it!!

Dave Swarbrick was one hell of a fiddle player, almost on the same level as Charlie Daniels.

@βrian what stock did you use for the soup?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
Uncle Michael:

Dan, you made milk shoot out my nose...and I'm not even drinking milk.

I got some Winter and Winter records, but foolishly passed on many BECAUSE THEY COST A BUCK MORE THAN OTHER CD'S. Talk about short sighted. (Hat Hut produced the same reaction in me, to my regret).

Love Spence!
  2:47pm
dan:

@UM
What's that supposed to mean?
  2:49pm
Dean:

Joseph Spence reminds me of the guitarist (or ukulele player?) who appeared frequently on LA's KPFK, an Asian(-American?) fellow, iirc, who often busked around downtown LA in the '80s, '90s. Can't remember his name...help?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
Uncle Michael:

That you think more of Charlie's abilities than I do.
  2:51pm
Dean:

I confess I acquired most of my W&W stuff as used records.

dan:

@UM
Listen to "The South's Gonna Do It Again" and tell me that Charlie Daniels isn't a great fiddle player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm
Uncle Michael:

OK. I'll get back to you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
Gaylord Fields:

I listen to "The South's Gonna Do It Again" and get nauseated. But that has nothing to do with CD's fiddling prowess or lack thereof.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
chresti:

Don't know, Dean. Sorry.

Really enjoyed the show, @Uncle Michael. Glad to have listened. Just wish the KISS covers set hadn't been while I was on the subway!

Thanks, chresti.
