A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@Carmichael: for one thing, Bloomberg was fundraising and campaigning for GOP governor and senate campaigns as recently as *2016*--meaning he helped preserve McConnell's majority, but now he's a Democrat? Also, as many have commented elsewhere, he blamed poor homeowners in Brooklyn and southeast Queens for the foreclosure crisis rather than the scum lenders who preyed on them with misleading predatory loans or the scum titans of finance who repackaged risky loans and transmuted them into allegedly risk-free investments. He ramped up the NYPD's stop-and-frisk policy despite explicitly acknowledging it targeted black and Latinos and resulted in arrests something like less than 1% of the time.

My health insurance insures that if I have a health crisis, I will be beggared only unto seen generations and not until the actual heat death of the universe. So that's something. Thanks, capitalism. Good looking out.

That I did the trick poorly is the worst insult of all.

For anyone who wants to know how “great” the U.S. health insurance system is, just look at this Reddit AMA from 2014 or so: “I was mauled by a bear, fought it off, and drove 4 miles down a mountain with my face hanging off. AMA”

Then in the AMA itself: “What do you find the hardest to overcome on your path back to recovery?”

Her answer? “Blue Cross. Hands down.”

A bear literally ripped her face and the health insurance is the worst part of this… Because it lasts forever…

I have no point Ike, it is just funny sometimes to see people discuss obvious things in this mode. the funniest though is Russia`s "influence" on the US elections etc. Imagine: at the times of R.Reagan, would anybody ever even speak aloud that USSR have ifluence on anything in US, even a public toilet in Harlem NY? was that possible at all?
medicine was free for all in the USSR too, ha ha.

I'm about to go to the dr. right now and already preparing to warn him about all the tests he just can't run on my fluids because the insurance co. doesn't consider them part of "wellness" but diagnostic and so will stick me with the bill. Zinc? We'll never know!

Gah, sorry, Trouble. This set is so good. But it angries up the blood!

@Alexei: That is part of the reason we all feel like our brains are turning upside down.

A local bagel (BAGEL!) store near me has owners who thinks its “unfair” that Nazis can’t rally in Germany.

I've never understood the notion that a health insurer can choose not to cover treatment. Why is that legal? I mean, offer insurance or don't offer insurance.

I've been dealing with a chronic medical problem for almost 8 years, and being on a NY state marketplace plan, the financial picture is not pretty... I lay awake thinking about the exact amounts of bills, checking balance, etc.

In the good news category, that dude who got in that horrible wreck at the end of the Daytona 500 walked out of the hospital on his own power yesterday. Takes a 2 ton racecar to the head and walks away. Amazing
