Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from March 27, 2020 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hi John from Florham park. I am not sure about KEXP. It's possible they're doing remote and prerecorded/archival stuff like many, many stations, like my mothership station KBOO. I don't know much about KEXP, but do know that they have rather deep pockets, much more so than most community/indy radio stations.

Hi John FFP!
Hi, Franco-I wouldn't call seeing kids in the office being on "the front line"...feel sorry for ER and hospital staff, 1st nurse passed away in NY. We are trying to keep non essential visits to a minimum, keep the waiting room fairly empty. Having said that, the doc who works right next to me was home all week (she got tested, results still pending, but I'm sure it was Coronavirus), today she's doing better after a bad week (but not bad enough for hospitalization). Another in our other office was much worse, also home but taking much longer to get better (probably age related). Being very careful with the few (regular) masks I have, and the 1 gown, washing my hands like I'm going in to do open heart surgery. But, so far, feeling well. Thanks for asking, sorry about the long winded reply.

Wow, happy birthday chresti's brother!

Jeff, Phil is a shakuhachi player who cooks vegan and pre-COVID hosted shows at his W. Oakland flat. I have at least one record of his on Leo. Saw David Murray and others at his place. Joelle Leandre was due to appear next month.

Thank you, John from Florham Park!

I am not as concerned about it affecting my own health so much. My main concern is that I can catch it, and infect someone else who might die from it or infect other vulnerable people, My wife works at a Senior living community.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
Alex In Illinois:

@dan: Those spring break millennials, might catch it, and have few if any symptoms, then transmit it to others. The should be quarantined.

My folks live in South Beach, and South Beach closed down, and closed the beaches, and told the Spring breakers to go home last week.

Another timeless classic from the vaults of WFMU
  1:28pm
Dean:

It's okay. I flubbed the listening part, too.
  1:35pm
Dean:

From the liner notes to the Waterloo Lily reissue: A more typical Caravan track was recorded on 8th November 1971. "Looking Left, Looking Right" evolved from a riff that Pye had been playing in between takes in the studio. Omitted due to time constraints of vinyl, the track featured Mike Cotton on Trumpet [sic] and was recorded in two sections. The second part, entitled "Pye's Loop", was designed to be faded back in at a point the listener assumed the song had finished. "I suspect that song fell victim to both our jazz direction and time limitations" muses Hastings. After languishing in the Decca vaults for twenty-nine years both tracks have been mixed, re-assembled and appear on this CD for the first time.

Buena Park! I love that. Dean, some of my fondest musical memories are of seen bands play in off track places around Southern California.

Venue was a strip mall not far from Knott's Berry Farm. The strip had *two* clubs, the Woodstock (where Twilley played) and another venue, the name of which I forgot. Still, two of my bands played there, too, one at each.
