2015 | new edit of the remix I did in early 2015 for this show of the excellent late 2014 Alejandro G. Iñárritu directed film "Birdman" (aka "The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance") whose frantic paranoid engery IMO taps into the overriding vibe of this time we are currently in. When the movie first came out and I was instantly drawn to it and inspired to do this mix it was because, as someone who listens as much as watches movies/TV, I was blown away by the dominant drum sounds of the black comedy drama that mocked the Marvel/DC superhero movie trend - so I went thru the two hour film to edit out all the drumming parts and some few standout vocal samples (like the "you mock bloggers, you hate Twitter, you dont even have a Facebook account") and re-edited/mixed them from the film about a former superhero movie star that starred Michael Keaton as the lead character Riggan Thomson with a strong supporting cast that included Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts. |
