A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Someone has to pick em up too so it's another vector. Also hearing about people leaving them in shopping carts after wearing them at the store which then forces grocery store workers to deal with even more potential hazzards.

Yes, noticed gloves thrown to the ground in supermarket parking lots in my area. Very strange that folks think it's ok to do that. Perhaps orange Home Depot buckets, or the like, placed strategically in parking lots may be used to collect them in an orderly fashion.

FWIW, just tossing trash on the ground is not a proplem limited to New Jersey. In general I have no idea why anyone anywhere has to liter. Or why I see people clearly make an effort to pick up dog poo, put it in a bag and then drop it right there.

Also I think I mentioned this here before, but a number of indie distributors (including Oscilloscope, Kino Lorber, and Magnolia) have been releasing new films to VOD and partnering with independent theaters for "virtual screenings"-- a portion of your rental fee will go to help support the theaters. (Of the current "releases," I highly recommend Bacurau and Extra Ordinary).

Old one heard told a few decades ago:
Two guys talking about the unfairness of the world with the galling advantages of the rich over the poor. One says, "What we oughta do is take all the money in the world and divide it equally. Everyone gets exactly the same amount."
Other guy says, "Well, the problem is that it would get out of balance again -- that's the way the system always works. You'd eventually up with certain folks having the money and power all over again."
First guy: "No, I'm talking about doing it every Friday!"

In fairness to my very good friends the Bush Tetras, they will tell you that the Roseland show, reviewed in the NY Times, was not very exemplative of the talent or style. They were much more used to playing small clubs like the Mudd Club or the Pepp, where they could catch the groove of the crowd. A big room like Roseland was not their bag.

planet tyler, most of our dj's are in the process of learning how to stream live from home. Some are already streaming, some are pre-recording the day before and sending in to be aired day of show b/c they aren't up and sstreaming yet. it changes daily, but goal is as many as humanely possible. Of course you can imagine that your average person even if they are a wfmu dj is ready on a moments' notice to dj from home.
