I've told this story before, but I once took a cab home from a dj gig, and I had Indian driver, and he was playing some amazing music. I asked what it was, and it was Ali Akbar Khan. I pulled out my flightcase, and showed him I had an Ali Akbar Khan LP w/ me. He was so impressed, he gave me a cassette of his own Hindustani classical ensemble. Still have the cassette.
