On March 9, 2019, two months after my mom moved into the memory/dementia wing of an assisted living facility near our place in Berkeley, a staff-led activity was a celebration of Ornette's birthday. They played side 1 of this album to a couple dozen rather elderly folks, all of whom seemed impressed by it.

Thanks for the George Floyd GoFundMe info, Irene. His family has raised $7.3million as of right now. It can’t compare with him still being with them, alive, but I hope the response gives George’s loved ones the knowledge that we are in solidarity with him whether we’re out protesting his murder, or sending financial support, or both. There are many ways to show up with love.
