Hey everyone, hi Sam. Horses all rotorvated?

Thanks chresti. I was wondering what those kids were looking at in such a featureless landscape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm
Sam Segal:

@Chresti, can you spot Ed Butterfield in the photo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm

Carly Simon mix!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
StringOFperils:

Is Ed the intrepid looking fellow on the right, the one striking the Washington crossing the Delaware pose?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm
Parq:

You never know, but I suspect that was the first time Carly Simon's voice has been heard on FMU in a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm
Sam Segal:

Your guess is as good as mine, String!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm

@Parq Dave Mandl played her a few years ago.

You must maintain a safe distance from puberty of at least six feet, and as many years as possible. Even proximity to the puberty of others can result in injury or death.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
ParUbi:

It's a good film. Eraserhead is always my favorite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Parq:

Mulholland Drive, and no, not just because of that scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
StringOFperils:

Robert Blake was great in Lost Highway. Loved it. Was it my fave? Hmmmm. Eraserhead, probably....

The phone call in Lost Highway, powerful scene with the mystery man
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm

Mulholland Drive would certainly be my second favorite Lynch work.

Eraser Head.

I still need to see Eraserhead. I'm scared to watch it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Sam Segal:

Hello, Dean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
StringOFperils:

A pristine print of The Elephant Man is pretty incredible on a big screen too, with a good audio system. There's a lot of refined Eraserhead ideas in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Franco Twinkie:

You should be, Sam. Eraserhead is a stand alone piece of trouble that will spoil your sleep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Sam Segal:

I think a Criterion release of Elephant Man is coming out soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm

Nice! Franco's right about Eraserhead. You can never really get that out of your dreams.

Sam, I feel the same way about Eraserhead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
chresti:

The sound, Eraserhead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
Sam Segal:

I feel like the Lynch films I've enjoyed do have a melodramatic, noir, or comedic quality that helps you cope with their terrifying core, but I get the sense that Eraserhead doesn't necessarily have those genre elements.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
chresti:

I liked the part where the wife is trying to pull out a suitcase from under the bed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Franco Twinkie:

A friend of ours got to see a work print of Eraserhead in his high school cinema 101 class when David Lynch showed up with it under his arm. I think they watched it in the cafeteria.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
StringOFperils:

Wow! That is cool.

I saw it with my ex at Filmex, in LA.

Thank you, Jena! Annette Peacock is perhaps underrated as a lyricist. I love this tune.

RE: Eraserhead. Love it. It was a regular Saturday midnight feature at an art house cinema a few blocks from where I lived back in the 70s. Saw it at least 6 times that year.

Sam you could watch Eraserhead followed by a Straight Story chaser.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Sam Segal:

I haven't seen that one either. Harry Dean is in it. I really should!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
wmbogart:

Now that's a topic - best Harry Dean Stanton movie. One of my favorite actors, he was in a ton of great stuff through the years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Franco Twinkie:

Sam, you'll like this: I saw Harry Dean Stanton get up on the stage with Daniel Lanois and sing The Meters song Africa. It was weird and great at the same time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm
Sam Segal:

Harry Dean has some incredible moments in Twin Peaks: The Return. Also great in Escape From New York.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm
Sam Segal:

What a moment, Franco! I like Harry Dean's voice. The soundtrack to the documentary about him that came out several years ago has some great songs of his.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
melinda:

My favorite HDS role was probably in Repo Man. I listen to the doc soundtrack a lot.

Franco, Lanois and Stanton doing Africa does sound whack. Take me back, take me back, Africaaaaa.

I don't know if I've ever even heard of Cisco Pike, Franco! Just looking at the cast I don't know how I missed it. I'll have to track it down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm

Yes, Daniel had three Fender Jazz Masters with stick on mail box letters on their fronts. Different tunings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
chresti:

I've not seen Repo Man, love Paris Texas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
Franco Twinkie:

I love Cisco Pike on many levels. The cast is a match made in heaven, good dope story, and the Venice Beach of long ago is so disreputable and sweet it breaks my heart. Long, long gone.
  11:47pm
Dean:

I played a Fender Jazz for a while. It was a beauty. The former owner replaced the controls with a parametric equalizer.

Thanks for the tip Franco, I can't believe I haven't seen it. I lived in the South Bay of LA for years, spent a good amount of time in Venice and Marina del Rey. The movie sounds right up my alley.

Cisco Pike is a movie that scares me. Evoking a scene I had to do my best to not get sucked into. No wanting friends who might OD or situations between the police & theives as Jr. Murvin sang of. Don't if i can be nostalgic about that.

Not meaning Venice / So Cal but the drugs / crooked cops stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm

Wmbogart, when I want to feel like the relic I am, I think about how easy it use to be to park your car in the street in Venice and just walk to the sand and forget about every thing.

Same Japanese writing, you pronounce it sekibutsu for statue / image. Ishibotoke for hard hearted person. This is what my dictionary tells me.
