I, too, was into early-ish Yes through Tales, which I adore to this day. I remember reading a review that referred to something like its "Mahlerian proportions," and that did it for me. Big, bombastic, endless, meandering were alright by me. Then punk struck '76 and I was willing and able to embrace it without abandoning the bloated prog.

I never completely turned my back on the "prog" type music but instead treated it like sweets - it's a "sometimes" music!

A little bit every now and then is okay, but a steady diet of that stuff can lead to some serious rot!

I never stopped liking Rush.. but I always liked the 90s stuff and the way they played their 80s stuff in the 90s

I just re-acquired a bunch of Gentle Giant, this time compiled in a huge box with a number of live shows. That band played too well for its own good, I fear.

he was our greatest composer and songwriter I think. He composed the music for the musical Starmania.
He sadly passed away in his 40s after a tennis match :-((( it was such a shock in France

@Julie one of Michel Berger's most famous song may be the one he did with Françoise Hardy, "Message Personnel".
Veronique Sanson did a great cover of it (she's supposed to have inspired the song. These folks had some drama going on, obv!)
