I have an aluminum canoe in MI and a kevlar and gel coat one here, both got with *steeeeeeeeeeep* discounts through a few glorious circumstances.
Have you looked at Craigslist? Lots of paddle craft on it, esp. if you can drive to WI or MI to pick it up.
