The one thing I learned in my one college level chemistry course was to easily convert Celsius to Fahrenheit. C * 1.8 + 32 = F. So 20 C. would be 68 F. Very nice weather indeed!

I definitely thinking getting rid of *some* statues is called for. All the southern civil war heroes should just go. Put them in a museum w/context if people really want to save em.

Unfortunately most statues that are being discussed are not erected to point out the bad or misfortune acts that someone committed they are erected as a manner of celebration. To continue to have the present states that are for which they are erected still feels that the subject should still be seen in a favorable light. I do agree to get rid of them is and attempt to whit wash history (no pun) and they shoudl be put somewhere to point out that unfortunate history has happened and that a second unfortunate thing has happened in that a large group felt it was ok to honor this.

As someone who especially in my youth cared more about what ever the powers that be didn't want me to see we certainly do not want to hide them. But we also don't want to give the impression that the collective we are ok with celebrating the actions of someone that should not be celebrated.

@linda lee your point is well taken. But I think when it comes to the statues honoring the confederacy there is a pretty clear line. Forgoing the obvious reasons for the issue can anyone else tell me of a situation where there a state mandated honor is paid to a losing army?

@Zivilars, it's more the other way round. I have to change needles after 5 or 6 records, but there is a big variety in needles. I just became memebre of a dutch society of shellac lovers and hope to learn more soon.

Good points Joe. History shouldn't be erased but no celebration of despicable actions. Flags and street names should represent what we try to be as a people of today. Taking down every statue of every president before Roosevelt except Lincoln misses needed opportunity for education regarding misdeeds of the past. The scar and wound of slavery in the development of the USA and Europe needs to be fully acknowledged. Sorry for the rant, particularly here.
