The playlist for July 8 was never "finished." So when you created a new playlist for today, the system assumed it was still July 8.

JD Parran was live on Dave Sewelson's Music For a Free World show a number of weeks back. But JD wasn't performing, he was assisting most generously the featured guest that day, James "Jabo" Ware. He was just being a mensch and stayed mostly in the background only jumping in when he could help out. It was a niceness.

@Dean: he was more into Santoki, which is still etched into my brain

Had to look this up. Santoki is one of the most famous children's songs in Korea. The word literally translates as "mountain bunny".

This album.
Days after Woodstock.
The roiling subtext always beneath Miles Davis's definitive Kewl goes incandescent.
Complete 'In A Silent Way' clued me in that acoustic to electric was not such a single leap...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
david w:

And this, fred, that blows my mind. Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker on Broadway as the choreographer on Ivo van Hove's rehauled West Side Story.

Reckon Psychedelic Rawk borrowed Improvisation from Jazz - Coltrane Quartet most directly. 'Bitches Brew' kind of meets the bet & raises...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
fred:

I'd love to see what she would do with that. She can get very abstract but also very close to specific dancers, her take on a historical work she didn't write, with dancers she doesn't know must be something new

Miles is cooking ! - Liking Shoko and Satashi seasoning the dish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm

Zawinul the true creator of Ambient?
It's incredible how important that work is.
& Miles' ultimate greatness is hard to nail down - but probably is inbetween all the hyphenates - riding & guiding the directions & contexts for decades...& even then it's something in the background of all of them : his understanding of life & music itself - as related by things the players he worked with recount he would say to them & do to inform their approach...
