Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Phillippe Bastille:

Our distinction is jelly fish don't sting, sea nettles do. I was rather fortunate that I had left my watch behind. I normally have it on all the time (it's rated 30 meters water safe). One of the nettles wrapped around my wrist just where my watch normally was. Had I had it on, the damn thing could've gotten tangled and I'd still be cursing...

Phillippe -- that reminds me of my first time water skiing. was a great day out on the bay, and i learned quickly. was launching from sitting position while floating in the water... had a few great runs, but when i was getting ready for the next, just before the boat started to pull me up, i felt something loosely touching my leg. as the boat pulled me out of the water and up into a standing position, i realized a big long group of tentacles was what was wrapped around my leg, and was ripped away from the body of the sea nettle to which they belonged. my leg was instantly on fire, as the stingers stung, and i eventually collapsed back into the water screaming in pain.

Off the shelf boots can vary wildly.

Great starters are usually Ariat. Had a few pair. They are usually fairly comfortable but I have had insole and soles wear faster than I would like.

Can't go wrong with Lucchesse. A good pair of leather soled Lucchesse can last what seems like a lifetime with proper care. Had a family friend with a pair over 30 years old that still looked fantastic. A good pair of broken in but properly fitting boots can be unbelievably comfortable.

Anderson Bean makes some real solid boots too. They can be great if you want something a little more expressive or wild they have all colors and patterns of shafts. They have conservative or traditional too.

i had an old van who's engine compartment was accessible from within the pasenger compartment. once, while driving back up from spring break in florida, there was a traffic jam just outside the washington beltway, and my van backfired through the carb (without an air cleaner on it, as usual, as i often had to reach in and pop open the butterfly on the carb with a screwdriver i kept handy...) anyway... i proceeded to attempt to open the carb in the case mentioned, when all of the hair on my right arm was singed off in an instant. i was able to put the fire out with a gallon of drinking water i kept handy to drink while driving. putting out fuel fires with water is usually not recommended, nor easy to do, but luck was with me, i suppose. or all of the prior similar situations when it has caught on fire before (with the best time being at the pumps of a gas station late at night) :D :D :D

Actually the wild styles can be quite fun. most manufactures go "wild" on the shaft which is covered up when wearing pants. It is similar to wearing wacky socks. A funy little secret for you. Most of the time no one else will ever see the shaft of your boots or your wacky socks. I mean unless you are going to blouse your boots. Not really my thing but I know some people really enjoy it.

My strategy to stay asleep, is to leave it to morning ngh to handle. I once was asleep, and a roach crawled across my face, I smashed it in my hand, and threw it against the wall. Went back to sleep. And for a few seconds when I woke up, I wondered why there was a smashed roach on the wall...
