Familiar & forgotten gems from 50-plus years of music on the darker side, shoegaze, synthpop, goth, psychedelia, darkwave, with unapologetic detours into 70s pop. In a dark night of the soul, it's always 3 o'clock in the morning.

Oh, also, after your extra-length show a few weeks back when you took requests and played New Model Army for me, I decided to see how many NMA albums I had missed in the last few years -- and soon a LARGE parcel was on its way from England to Brooklyn. Very excited!

and decided to swim to a tiny island at the farthest end.
looked inviting, and not as far as it actually was.
as i got closer the plants from the bottom were closer and closer to the surface, until i was getting tangled in them.
i used to wear a ring that i made from a hunk of a collar of a dog no longer among us. the plants stole it.

i used to wear the rest of it as a necklace when i was a "punkrocker" (with the tags!) i put it on with a plier to make it legit.
... went to court for something and they didn't let me in. i showed them that i couldn't remove it without pliers but he said it could be used against me, on my neck.
i guess they were expecting a courtroom brawl!

Used my Vegetarian Shoes hiking boots over the weekend, though.
The para boot soles are not as good as DM soles, alas.
Nick:

Great starters are usually Ariat. Had a few pair. They are usually fairly comfortable but I have had insole and soles wear faster than I would like.
Can't go wrong with Lucchesse. A good pair of leather soled Lucchesse can last what seems like a lifetime with proper care. Had a family friend with a pair over 30 years old that still looked fantastic. A good pair of broken in but properly fitting boots can be unbelievably comfortable.
Anderson Bean makes some real solid boots too. They can be great if you want something a little more expressive or wild they have all colors and patterns of shafts. They have conservative or traditional too.

It's kind of comforting that Docs have gotten crappy (I am assuming that you assume Alexei Sayles foreshadowed their capital-based decline!).
Julie, that's true about Chucks -- you have to wear an insole of some kind from the drug store.

Handy, in the 80s there was a famous vegan shoe place in Brighton called R. Soles, but I’m not sure whether it’s still there or not. And as a Runza, remember not to mention the name of ‘that man’.

"huh?"
i spotted it and grabbed it and ran out. was the pink chemical powder, and i got it out in time. the fire dept showed up but i talked them into letting me leave or at least move it to a parking spot for the night (i forget)... anyway, that van had pink powder in every crack, etc. for years :D i've also put out fires at places i've lived lol -- fire dpet showed up here in sf the last time i did, and hacked parts of the house apart to be sure it was all out. it was all out, and i knew as much, but had to watch them destroy what they did (and later repaired it) -- f'ing smoking cigarettes.man

Though years ago when the new kitten, Lycanthropy, was exploring the apt. for the first time, she found one, and it confused her. So she carried it to me for explanation. Of course, it was 4 AM and I was dead asleep, only to wake up to wonder why the kitten was clicking ...
Life lesson: when you have already screamed and leaped up in the bed, do NOT yell "giant roach! giant roach!" to calm the situation.
