It’s Experimental Sound Studio, which I think I found out about from someone here. They just use twitch as their platform. They have been having almost daily live-streams: The Quarantine Concerts. Tons of amazing artists/festivals especially Friday-Sunday.

I have placated the sparrows -- for now. But I fear greatly lest that which has been awakened here, that whose slumber would have far, far more happily -- for all an unknowing, formerly fortunate humanity -- been left unbroken, untouched by time, immured to hunger, might prove impossible to lure back into slumbrous obscurity ...

Also, I think I'll have some cider.

Handy, wow nice phrasing.
  4:01pm
Miss G:

Heidee, *L* after the war, US soldiers brought back names that they thought were "cute." Once I had a roommate who had a derivation of the same name, but she was from the US Black community, and for me, the White community.
  4:02pm
David in London:

Krull, it was the list (later expanded) that came as an insert with their first release. It’s seen as something of a holy writ about ‘out there’ music now. During the mania period that followed my divorce many years ago, I worked my way through it. Some of it hasn’t worn particularly well (no one really needs Secret Oyster in their life in 2020...) but other things on there are flippin’ marvellous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
mariano:

Thanks David, though in retrospect I missed a golden opportunity to call it "Nosfera2."

Handy: birds in general are scary. I think they have some sort of evolutionary memory of having been dinosaurs and having ruled the world, a memory that fills them with resentment and ill-will towards humans. And don't get me started on plants, they're very much a part of it too.

Mariano, see the Joe Hill book NAS4A2.

Cary Dreyer directed Vampyr but I think it was F.W. Murnau who directed the original version of Nosferatu in 1922 that was the basis of the Herzog remake in 1979. Miss G:

Yes, I would like to support Film Forum! How many hours did I spend outside there in the rain, waiting for Fassbinder retrospective films. Chuck Berry is what I need! (and since I don't have "Shadow of the Vampire" I can watch "Rocco and his Brothers." That one has _everything._)
  4:49pm
Phil M. Phan:

The only problem with cinephobe.tv is sometimes the streaming screws up. They are re-showing “Pound” on Sunday because the last time there was no video for the first half hour. But hey, It’s free and the films are pirated. Some of the films I don’t think anyone knows who really owns the rights. They tried to show the musical version of James L. Brooks’ “I’ll Do Anything,” but the Prince estate sent a cease and desist email. But most of the time they get away with it, as the films tend to be obscure and rare.
  4:50pm
Mike Sin:

That Alain Delon film fest on TCM recently was indeed great. “Dreamboat” looks and all that, but the dude could really act. His performance in “Rocco...” is the reason that movie was quite powerful.

Ami 4:52: oh, I DID see those N Korean films a few weeks ago. In between films, they show great short music videos by bands like Kleenex, and oddities like Orson Welles performing a magic trick. Keep in mind, the screening times are approximate. Still, for a pirate operation, cinephobe.tv is fairly professional.

David in London:

Back in the room. I love the way that cinephobe shows great vintage music clips during the breaks. I tuned in early the other day to watch a Miklós Jancsó film, and they were showing the video for Chrome’s ‘Meet Me in the Subway’ beforehand. Now that’s class.

another live-stream recording watched last week- this one last Thursday On Alice Coltrane's birthday - this concert was in the basement of The Coltrane Home where Alice recorded many pieces including Journey In Satchidananda. The Brandee Younger Trio is all stellar musicians-and effing beautiful performance with great sound quality.
