This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Avatar 7:02pm
Flash Strap:

Hiya Fuzzy!
Avatar 7:03pm
Flash Strap:

Hi Frog Mo - we'll get deep in those brains and start a frog flow
Avatar 7:04pm
Flash Strap:

This is my favorite Froese album, including Tangerine Dream. I really think it might be the peak record for the EF/TD sound
Avatar 7:07pm
Frog Mover:

Excellent! Dig these paintings a lot
Avatar 7:09pm
Flash Strap:

a later Froese solo compilation ("Electronic Dreams") included the track "Maroubra Bay" (from this LP) but accidentally recorded it backwards – I'll likely play that on an upcoming show
Avatar 7:11pm
Flash Strap:

@FM: Hilma af Klint was pretty unbelievable, predating all the canonical abstract modern painters. I remember seeing her work for the first time at the venice biennale and being blown away, then checking the dates and being utterly demolished

Almost done w/ work. Hear ya at the hotel.

NGH! hello friend

Hmm, .backwards sounds interesting
Avatar 7:17pm
Flash Strap:

getting really into backwards stuff right now, have a whole thing planned for October on this theme
Avatar 7:22pm
Flash Strap:

This album's design is very good, great cover, cool fonts, nice gatefold: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 7:24pm
Flash Strap:

very surprising but this track really starts to sound like that excellent Besombes-Rizet synth workout we recently heard (which itself sounded a lot like the Dr. Who theme)
Avatar 7:25pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Lovely mystery
Avatar 7:26pm

hello Kenzo!

What medium do you have this on?
Avatar 7:29pm

only mp3, regretfully, why do you ask

I just...want to hear it as excellently as is possible.

Hello Evan and all. I would not have guessed these sounds are to evoke Ipan In Xiktli Metztli
Avatar 7:34pm
Flash Strap:

used to be somewhat rare but i see its been reissued a few times now, I should see if any of those constitute an upgrade nonetheless
Avatar 7:35pm
Flash Strap:

Hi WR! yeah this album is all over the place, one of the more synthy records Pérez did but all his stuff that I've heard is so great

Oh hell this is a playlist. Hi Flash, hi explorateurs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Little Danny:

Love Robert Turman (at least the stuff I've heard - this and the Beyond Painting CD)
Avatar 7:51pm
Flash Strap:

Hi LD! I'm not actually familiar with much beyond Flux, something I should fix
🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:52pm
WR:

I was in a meeting up until just before my comment. I didn't have the volume up enough to really hear the details of the work, was just hearing overall texture. I'll re-listen.

Turman new to me. Lovely flow and tones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Little Danny:

Honestly I've enjoyed Turman's music but couldn't tell you a darn thing about him or his milieu
Avatar 7:56pm
northguineahills:

Yeah, Turman is new to me too! Loverly stuff!
Avatar 7:57pm
Flash Strap:

me either, i once read that Flux was crucial, so I got it and I liked it and that's sort of it. I hadn't listened to it for a long time until just recently
Avatar 7:57pm
Flash Strap:

but the first half of this album is very minimal-exotic and I really respond to it
Avatar 7:58pm
Flash Strap:

he's part of some corner of that 80s industrial scene that I don't really know how to parse
Avatar 8:02pm
Flash Strap:

in terms of method: "Brian Eno invited Robert Fripp to his London home studio in September 1972. Eno was experimenting with a tape system developed by Terry Riley and Pauline Oliveros where two reel-to-reel tape recorders were set up side-by side. Sounds recorded on the first deck would be played back by the second deck, and then routed back into the first deck to create a long looping tape delay. Fripp played guitar over Eno's loops, while Eno selectively looped or recorded Fripp's guitar without looping it"
Avatar 8:03pm
Flash Strap:

it's very pleasant to hold the album art in your mind as you hear it as well: img.discogs.com...

My brother Flash Strap. It is a stunning wonder how you have achieved the marvelous capacity to make the music you play better for having been played by you. Simply the acme.
Avatar 8:30pm
Flash Strap:

I do what I can to my best – you humble me dear friend
Avatar 8:33pm
Flash Strap:

meant to say "I do what i can to do my best" which is close enough to gibberish already, my god
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
Little Danny:

Fascinating, there was an entirely different Peter Thomas soundtrack to this as well. Musta been the German version soundtrack.
Avatar 8:34pm
Flash Strap:

too deep in the waves to type right
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
Little Danny:

This is incredible btw
Avatar 8:35pm
Flash Strap:

I picked up that Thomas soundtrack after hearing it on your show, LD! but this is no soundtrack, just a concept album. Däniken's stuff was crazy popular at the time
Avatar 8:36pm
Flash Strap:

(Erich von Däniken, who wrote Chariots of the Gods and kicked off a lot of ripe UFO-archaeology foolishness)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Little Danny:

Wow, okay, that's wild! Hadn't realized it all stemmed from a book.

Anyone read the book? Looks very '70s sci-fi

Totally unexpected Beach Boys and totally love the segue. I remember a few friends all laying on the floor with the sound so loud that the floor was vibrating. There are some serious low end to the album.

hello Evan & Explorers

I remember the ads for Chariots of the Gods.
Hi coel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
coelacanth∅:

i bought (no pussyfooting) because i was infatuated with Eno's first 2 solo albums. i was confounded and disappointed at first but was intrigued enough to keep playing it, and thus allowing it to change my Life profoundly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
coelacanth∅:

hi chresti!
Avatar 8:55pm
Flash Strap:

Hi Coelacanth! that's sort of the story of the album's reception as well - it lost tons of money, caused a great deal of consternation, was sold at drastic discount... and ultimately achieved status as a daring, forwardthinking classic
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
chresti:

I didnt really pay attention to the latter Eno until about 10 years ago when I started liking more instrumental music.
Avatar 8:56pm
Flash Strap:

the space on these orgy in rhythm albums destroys me, the drums are just god's pure thunder, it really couldn't get better
Avatar 8:59pm
Flash Strap:

Sabu Martinez is such a gift to the world
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm
Little Danny:

I don't think I'd appreciated how much the drum sound of Sabu's Sorcery LP musta been informed by Orgy in Rhythm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm
Little Danny:

Similar spaciousness, that is.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:02pm
chresti:

These came out the year I was born.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
Little Danny:

"Amuck" was probably named for you Chresti
Avatar 9:03pm
Flash Strap:

Totally, LD - I think he did a lot of stuff with Art Blakey & some with Horace Silver too, and had his own Blue Note LP as bandleader so when he did Sorcery and Safari he must have been so sharp
Avatar 9:07pm
Flash Strap:

The King here is from Nassau, Bahamas. While working as a musician there, in 1965, he appeared in Thunderball, playing the congas, and got a much wider recognition from that. Sessioned for Sammy Davis Jr. and later did just a ton of stuff for Motown. this is from his first solo LP
Avatar 9:07pm
Flash Strap:

it's a hit and miss record but the hits hit hard
Avatar 9:08pm
Flash Strap:

it's really high time I did some kind of Sabu special, maybe this october
