Welcome Sean, Sylvia and all who listen in!

Cool, overcast, and definitely autumn here on the isthmus.

Hello Irene & folks. Dando Shaft, this takes me back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm

Hello βrian and Brian! It's a little warm in NYC but on the edge of Autumnal.

Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Irene!
Avatar 🥁 12:03pm
YETI BOB:

Plenty autumnal out here in Chicago and this music fits perfectly

Sean in Bristol UK:

Hey Sylvia, Brian, definitely not BBQ weather here, dinner will be an inside affair, bratwurst, bubble & squeak with a potpourri of fresh veg.

Happy to be your soundtrack today, Summer and Michael and Sylvia, YETI BOB and TDK60!

In since the jump but noodling around the apartment for a moment. How do, Irene and all!

Great to hear Breton Stivell.

Alan Stivell makes me think of Piper in the Meadow Straying (with Ed Haber)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Irene Trudel:

How do, james and Henry! Doing well here in NYC's Upper West Side. HA Henry!
Avatar 12:26pm
TDK60:

Glad you're okay, Irene. I was in your neighborhood yesterday, at the farmers' market outside the museum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Irene Trudel:

Oh cool! Peter and I spent a lovely afternoon in Central Park watching a jazz concert over by the Shakespere statue. A nice afternoon to be out and about, and happy to see most people wearing their masks.

Listener Robert:

For a second there I was hoping that venue in Nyack was NAMED Socially Distanced. Good band name, too.
Avatar 12:43pm
TDK60:

Since way back in the spring, I've been advocating using "physical" distancing as a term, instead of "social".
Avatar 12:45pm
TDK60:

Don't think I've heard this original "One Sure Thing" before (unless I did on WFMU eons ago and forgot).
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Michael 98145:

distanced *wave*
Avatar 🥁 12:47pm
YETI BOB:

@TDK60: That makes sense. Similarly, I hate the term "wi-fi" because what the hell is "wireless fidelity"? But I find my advocacy hasn't been making much of a difference.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Brian in UK:

Guessing that the title of the Jim & Jean album is from Phil Ochs' timeless song.
'Stand by my side come as close as the air'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
Irene Trudel:

No, not quite Robert.TDK60, I think you're a little more accurate about the "physically" distanced. Officials are trying to put too kind a spin on things.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Love Sandy Denny and this song. Also, the Van Morrison version - especially haunting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Irene Trudel:

Could be Brian. There was a lot of influence-crossing going on between the US and UK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm

Who knows where the time goes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm

Who knows where it came from in the first place?

Stanley, I do not fear the time (can't account for its passing either).

Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

And this one "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" - one of Summer's very favorites. This came on once a year or two ago and I burst into tears. Sylvia asked very gently, kindly, if it was the song, and I nodded. Then, just as kindly, she asked "how many songs are there?"

The original version of Judy Collins rendition. Sorry it's so scratchy, er, well-loved.

I think maybe "Reynardine" is a variation on Reynard the Fox from medieval tales? (He was very devious)
  1:21pm
Alan Cynics:

It was great seeing Sandy a couple of times in the 70s...and, as you mentioned they used my tape of her playing on Marc Time for the boxset and I've always kept a unicorn. The new Richard & Linda Thompson boxset also uses a song of theirs I recorded from the same series.

Thanks for the Fairport ancestry map, Michael! YETI BOB, I may try to clean it up just for the fun of it. And, yes, Richard Thompson mentioned that about Reynard the Fox. Alan, cool that you were able to provide another track for the compilation. I have to pick that up.

Irene...there seem to be some problems with the cd quality on the R& L Thompson one. Hopefully sorted soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm

Thanks Alan. I'll check in with Ed Haber, who would know about the CD's issues.

Irene, this music captures the time of year over here just right and I imagine over your way too. Tractor ploughing the field opposite prior to Winter planting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
Irene Trudel:

Yes Brian, although there aren't any tractors that I know of in NYC. I'll plant that nice image of elsewhere in my head.

It's a scare tactic where they specifically claimed at the last minute that legal maneuvers would invalidate those ballots.

But a certified received ballot is in the same pile as all the others.
