chresti, if you've not heard it, I think you might find Dave Sewelson's guest last Saturday of interest. Amy Denio. Remarkable performer and composer with great range of work.

lol Brian... nope. i had shorts on, then wrapped my legs in a blanket, then just gave up and got back into some cozy sweats. i'm a zoom virgin (though i'm no stranger to video conferencing/working remotely) --- that was always the joke (and sometimes true)... about not wearing pants

Handy Haversack:
chris, I sure hear that. Though by the time Skeptech starts I will have spent three hours on it today!
I always DL through a Private Window that I then close to wipe the cookies etc. and then I uninstall the program after every meeting. Yaaaaaaaay.

Handy, I am eschewing wine at dinner in favour of lively German pilsner. It’s sure to help!

Thanks, Handy! You'd think they were moths by the size of 'em.. but no sir. they're devilish, and swarmy, little bastards.

i see it eats apple and stonefruit trees; but ironically it's favorite food is the "tree of heaven", which itself is one of the worst invasive species here!

Henry, we were in Minnewaska SP a couple of weeks ago, at the Sam's Point entrance and the trail around the lake there, and there were entire stands of dead evergreens. It looked like a forest that had subsided and got its roots in saltwater, though obviously that wasn't the case. Was that from the borers?

Not sure, but I think the spotted lanternflies may only have made their way from PA into NJ this year. Sort of a plague-on-pandemic lockdown, in my region.. I first noticed them in Middlesex county, NJ in early Summer, and now loads more as I'm in Mercer county, a few miles across the river from PA. If you see them, kill them *and report the sighting to your state's Dept of Agriculture.
