"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Avatar 🎸 9:25am

While working on the Kinzie St Bridge, pilings pierced the tunnel and it flooded. The water went straight into to all the basements in Chicago that the freight service used to service.

@johnc, you have to pledge $75 for a DJ Premium, which the JAZZ shirt is. If you wanted to pledge again to make your pledge = $75, then just drop Joe McGasko a line to say you want to add the JAZZ swag. Or, samewise, if you pledged $75 but missed that option, drop him a line.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:41am

(That is to say, with the first option, pledge to make your total = $75 and add in the notes to the office and/or write Joe an e-mail explaining how it happened and ask to get your JAZZ swag!)

Brian Eno hears "New Grub Street" for the first time. Doesn't leave his apartment for days. Despondent. Bryan Ferry calls, no answer. Ferry calls again and again. Finally, Eno answers: "What's the point, Bryan? Western Eyes, Bryan. Western Eyes." Hangs up. It will be two more years before Eno puts out another record.

Regarding the skipping/stuttering song: In the spirit of Irreverent X-Ray Burns -I was going to make a bad joke about the guy did not go to his speech therapy classes but I do not want to get banned -OOOOPPPPPSSSS. I can make that joke as I refused to go to my speech therapy classes in 2nd grade Brooklyn Catholic School .. being IN the outsider group gives joking ... Like the guy with Tourettes who made the film about Tourettes called "Twitch and Shout" - a great informative film - especially about the different forms of Tourettes.

@sphere: I think The Bent Arcana wasn't druggy or proggy enough for the Wire reviewer. Right before the bit I quoted, he complains that it is "toted in its press release as a homage to progressive rock from days gone by. Yet it does not give off vibes of the intimate late night, drug-fueled and wonderfully ponderous studio explorations we associate with bands of this ilk."

Social media isn't the problem — it's the monetization of social media. The companies benefit from "engagement" — and nothing drives engagement more than anger-driven mob mentality. Back when Twitter was profitless it was far less toxic. Same with Facebook.
