Hello Jeffrey!

Jeffrey Davison:

I know that for many of us, there is less money coming in, but if you have the means please try and support local food banks and larger organizations of that type. Anything helps. If possible, restaurants are mostly in dire shape and need your business. Just ordering a couple of bottles of wine from a restaurant helps. Bookstores are hurting, as Amazon has scooped up more business than ever. For instance, the Strand Bookstore here in NYC is in trouble, though a recent flood of online orders, in response, has helped. MacNally Jackson is also in need of your help. And in Paris, the legendary Shakespeare and Company is in trouble also. For the latter, you can buy a gift certificate for the book lover of your choice. I can't imagine these cities without these, and other wonderful bookstore.

Hard to choose the best acoustic guitarist, even leaving aside classical guitarists who I am less familiar with, but Allred is certainly in the running. I would add Glenn Jones, Gwenifer Raymond, Daniel Bachman...but jeez there are so many great ones nowadays.

what I didn't know about The Strand, but not suprised: the owner is a very rich woman who has bought Amazon shares...
  6:35am
Malcolm.:

Hey Jeffrey and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39am
Jeffrey Davison:

TDK60...ah, thank you. Did not know that. FYI, all, as of a couple of days ago, the Strand had temporarily suspended online sales, in order to catch up with the flood of new orders. A much-beloved institution in New York.
Sylvia: if you say she's rich, that may be. Certainly the Strand has been very successful but I did read an article about her and seem to recall (?) a rich husband, or did I just make that up? And that article did mention her buying Amazon shares, which seems ironic, but I guess just an investment decision. Amazon is here to stay. She (Nancy Bass) is not everyone's favorite person, and while the Strand was never an ideal workplace, it was mostly a stopping-over place for students and such. Still, they are needed all the same. Sorry to say that they are the last of the Fourth Avenue bookstores, and have held that dubious distinction for many years.

gift certificates from your fav stores and donations would make for great Christmas presents
Jeffrey: yes, The Strand is a great and important place to shop books and supplies, I agree on that. My comment was more about "we need to know all the facts", in this world of disinformation.
And they sell great tees!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47am
Jeffrey Davison:

For me, the Strand's expansive offerings of photography books is one of the best things about them, since renovation. I do miss the floor-to-ceiling stacks of books, however. It seems like there were more undiscovered treasures in the old store, but the basement and 2nd floor are great too, not to mention the rare books upstairs. Haven't been up there in awhile, though I will say that many books up there are not really expensive, so worth poking around.

@John @7:52 Thank you, numbers are alarmingly rising. Stay well yourself please!

@Jeffrey, Thank you for all that you do. Lovely show.

Off to a walk in the sunny autumn forest. Peace all. And may the better president win. We all know who that is.

Yours always, Heidee x
