9:00am : and now. the best theme music ever!9:00am : Good morning, Bob and all.9:00am : Good morning Bob,and all other Brainiacs.9:01am : greetings from briefly sunny Tannersville Mr. BB.
this always reminds me of the Avengers (Emma Peel not Thor)9:02am : Hey thanks YETI BOB
Morning, 1whoknewcthulhu & Andrew in Toronto9:03am : Hey Listener Bop Monroe,9:03am : Morning, all!9:03am : Good Morning! This song is so nostalgic!9:04am : Good vibes and good saturday Bob and all!9:04am : Good morning, Bob, and friends.9:05am : Good Morning Bob, Doc Rock and fellow listeners.
Hey, I’ve got a book recommendation for you - Time Between by Chris Hillman.
I just started reading it; just about to get to the part where he was recruited to join up with Jim, Gene, Dave
What sets this apart from other music autobiographies? It’s extremely well written by a guy who often gets overlooked. Kinda like Dizzy Gillespie - he was important to so many developments in jazz like bebop. But, Charlie Parker was the cat who died young. Just like Gram Parsons🥁 9:06am : Hey Bob and all. Good Morning.9:06am : JEAN! this song is great! love it!9:06am : Morning Joe M. Deborah, mauri, Wendy del Formaggio.
Hey Jeff, yeah I'll have to read that, for sure.9:06am : Hi folks! Thanks for the recommendation Jeff.9:07am : @Jeff: Bass players tend to get overlooked🥁 9:07am : Hello Bob.
jeff, love Hillman's bass playing especially on Rock 'n Roll Star. Drives the whole song along.9:07am : Morning Bob. / Sounds interesting, Jeff. I'm a Byrds fan; heard Hillman has a recent solo album. (A WFMU DJ told me it's overproduced, haven't heard yet.)9:08am : Good morning! You're making me feel like I'm 5 again!🥁 9:09am : Was Jean written by Rod McKuen, never heard Oliver's version.9:09am : g'mornin' WilliamfromDumont, Be Now Homeboy, melinda,
Hey Brian in UK. TDK60 & Fuzzy. 5 is a good age.9:10am : Ahhh, the 1960s. I didn't have a care in the world. I was just running around in diapers, eating baby food. What a time!9:10am : Hi Bob. Your show is like a Saturday audio sunrise. Already walked the dog and consumed coffee and am trying to knock out some online holiday stuff. Thanks for the soundtrack. WFMU never fails.🥁 9:11am : TDK60, I bought it for a friend's birthday. It is OK, I know faint praise.9:12am : Good morning Bob. Sounding good9:12am : Pedro in Arlington. that's so nice, thx! And thx Malcolm.9:13am : Loving the show! Still in bed under the covers, a nice covering of snow on the ground outside. My cat Merle as climbed over to cuddle. :)🥁 9:13am : Bob, this is some sonic balm.🥁 9:13am : I need to go back and listen to Number 5. I don't remember it being this good!9:14am : It took about 100 listens to finally realize this Steve Miller song is just all acoustic guitars and a harp.
ZeeBee, yr making me envious. SNOW!9:14am : 1967. I was still swimming in Abraham's sausage pot.9:15am : Hi UK Brian, over there in Shropshire. "Ok" is better than bad. I'll hear it eventually.9:17am : Wm. it's a mixed bag like most Miller albums are for me. But the good is as good as it gets.
Hey Heidee,9:17am : Thanks for the reading tip Jeff.9:17am : 67 I wasn't a thought or even a wild imagining9:17am : Heidee: I've never heard that expression before, it's hilarious.9:23am : good morning Bob and everyone! hey Bob, wasn't "Jean" produced by Bob Crewe? is there arrangement info listed on the record? off to a great start!9:23am : Why, Clarence?🥁 9:23am : Hot chili is groovy
After a movie
Or watching TV.9:25am : Mornin' brother bb & all friends! 8-)9:26am : mornin' Be Now B, Hey Denny, yes Bob C. and written by Rod McKuen.
Hey SmokinJ
Why Clarence what?9:26am : Archetype Joker Eclipse Time9:26am : Speaking of The Byrds: 15-20 years ago, I had a dream that Roger McGuinn was leading a big band of bluegrass players doing amazing arrangements of Byrds tunes at the Village Vanguard.
I woke up and thought “what a great idea!” I e-mailed McGuinn and never heard back.9:27am : Oh, just wondering why did Clarence force "Take 5" into 4/4 time!9:29am : Hi megaroni, Ah, I think Clarence just heard everything in 4/4? Not a lot of "Island " music in odd time signatures? And not so easy to change a time sig. it take some doing.9:29am : slam stewart and his nasal bass accompanyment9:30am : I love hearing Slim Gaillard songs I've never heard before on this radio show. Bob Brainen always delivers!9:30am : I once heard a reggae version of "Take 5" where they did the same thing, but that made more sense to me. The Clarence Curvan was interesting, just sounded very "wrong" to me :) Yeah not easy to change time sig.9:32am : Jeff, have you heard Hillman's Desert Rose Band? I've never heard them.9:34am : Good morning Bob & all the listeners.
Hey Jeff et. al.
Everything off to a slow start here this morning.9:34am : @TDK60, sure - I saw them play at the Bottom Line years ago and a mini-reunion at Iridium a few years back. Great band!🥁 9:36am : Hi Bob, everyone. The Mina song is climbing up the Frostbite 5000 chart.9:36am : Thanks Wendy! Wow, would love to hear Reggae version-if you think of artists pls. let us know.
Hey Doc Rock,🥁 9:38am : I'd love to hear Clarence Curvan's take on Max Roach's Jazz In 3/4 Time.9:40am : @BobB: It was on Jeff Sarge's show and he doesn't do playlists so I'm not sure who it was.9:41am : @Bob: But I just found this great King Tubby version - www.fastcompany.com...9:43am : CHOOOOOOOON9:48am : Hey listener 126464,

Then watch Andy work to ToPT, and then join my international friends for Transpacific Sound Paradise🥁 10:19am : Does it get any better than this Association tune?10:19am : I was enjoying the show while devouring a post-run grilled cheese on sourdough bread, Bob :)

Denny D. Joe Osborne on bass?🥁 10:26am : If It's not Osborne, it's Larry Knechtel.10:29am : Yeah, Wm. I was thinking that too.10:30am : Joe Osbourne is quadruple awesome.10:31am : this page says it's Joe Osborne (Knechtel was playing keys) le0pard13.com...10:32am : Quick correction: the Monk/Gryce track you played was Shuffle Boil, not Brake’s Sake.
You spun Brake’s Sake on last week’s show, IIRC.
-GC10:36am : Bob, really diggin' the sounds today. I still remember the day I bought the Steve Miller Number Five & the first time I played it, blew me away. Great to hear you back on after the absence. (watchpocket = Rusty Hoover)10:37am : Thanks Yeti,

This album doesn't get enough love.10:41am : Jeff, that is very cool.
