Caught up with the comments. I've been to the Solid Sounds Festival Wilco's Berkshire festival, and Nels Cline usually gets a more intimate space to play in, but he does get Wilco fans to listen there... He's THEIR weirdo...(he's a good friend of a friend, and a really nice, soft spoken guy, nothing like the guitar sound he makes)

Nels and Yuko Honda had a set in the Bang on a Can streamed concert recently and tore it up! This was performed at the 2018 October Revolution (Philadelphia's Ars Nova Workshop). I forget if they said the performance preceded the recording or vice versa. But this sounds more assured so I'm guessing recording came later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am
Jeff Golick:

As much as I'd like to dismiss Clean Feed as a label that over produces, the hit rate is indeed rather high.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am

Right you are, @DJpeter: "The concert received a second standing ovation and the 17 musicians went to studio the next day."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am
Jeff Golick:

@DJpeterDE: were you at the performance?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:40am

Clean Feed on Bandcamp means no more weird packaging changes every few years. The "portfolio" packaging c. 2004 was particularly bizarre and unworkable.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:44am
doctorjazz:

Quote a band on Soundparh, must have been quite a show (I've always wanted to go to an October Revolution show, but never made it. I have gotten to a few Are Nova produced shows, though)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:44am

I was indeed in attendance. It was held in the Christ Church Neighborhood House (not the best acoustics), next door to Christ Church itself where (a) George Washington worshiped and (b) John Zorn performed on organ later that same day!

What Clean Feed taught me is that there are almost as many incredible musicians in Europe as there are in Brooklyn... I just don't know them.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:47am
DJpeterDE:

The 2019 October Revolution was a series of a dozen concerts spread across October. The 2017 & 2018 festivals were all in Old City over a single weekend: you'd hear Kid Millions at 11am, grab coffee, and then go hear Diego Rataplan around the block, then Tiger Trio in the church... It was communal, spending the weekend with the same group of people.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:50am

Or hearing a composition for 24 French Horns strolling around the Race Street Pier on a warm October morning... that was lovely.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:15am

@Doc some Bandcamp labels give you PDFs with the album artwork etc., but others don't. And the Bandcamp site doesn't make that clear. (Only complaint!)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:18am
DJpeterDE:

@Doc I prefer physical media to download only, but the Bandcamp model where I can download lossless if I want, at any future date -- that works for me. I like the physical media of course, but this way i don't have to store it, and can still access lossless version if necessary.
