Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from December 4, 2020 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Did you know that Hinky Dinky Time has a phone number? You can call and leave a message with a show ID: (This is [listener name] and you're listening to Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael on WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio). (201) 204-9350.

Uncle Michael:

FOUR weeks from today, on January 1st, 2021…the first Friday of the year, we’ll be creating something special, together. Uncle Michael will be presenting the fifth annual Hinky Dinky Time All Listener Request Program.

There are TWO ways to communicate your request for the show. The first way is to use the WFMU email form at: tinyurl.com... The second way is to leave voice mail at (201) 204-9350. There is no third way. If you leave voice mail, you do so with the understanding that the audio of your request may be heard during the show, but that that’s not assured. The cutoff for requests is 12:00 PM CST on December 31, 2020.

A sophisticated algorithm will select requests for inclusion. The algorithm is inscrutable, complex and capricious. Don’t try and understand it. Our puny, moist brains cannot. You can submit multiple requests. The algorithm will select from among them. You may think you can beat the algorithm at Vulcan chess. Good luck with that.

If you plan to make multiple requests via voice mail, and hope to hear your mellifluous tones during the show, please leave a separate voice mail for each request. If you leave voice mail with a list of requests, your requests will be registered but the audio of your voice mail will not be usable. Please limit voice mail requests to a maximum of three.

Audio of requests received closer to the December 31 cutoff have a reduced chance of being included in the program.

Since the show has a finite duration, it’s entirely possible that not everyone who makes a request will be rewarded. If your feelings are easily bruised, you might refrain from making a request. The algorithm is the decider and it has no empathy.
