I’m a tad confused this fine evening
I’m home safely from a slow night on the road. No bars no work no hustle
Here’s my confusion though
Can’t find my way home
Not sure if that’s the correct song title. Stashu played a cover version last night. Then I don’t know if it was your first song today or was it the last squirrel carcass song. Then again I could have been on the archives and didn’t realize it.
I’ll sort it out when I realize
It really doesn’t matter.

Churchill’s copious drinking despite his age and weight and need to keep his head clear is an inspiration to me - a bad one.
  7:55am
Ted in Montclair:

Jeffrey, re Churchill: i don’t think there’s any ‘perhaps’ about it. A few years back I read Churchill/Orwell, a neat double bio by Thomas Ricks. During the summer of 1940, when German fighter planes would cross the Channel to London, Churchill would run to the roof of his building to see the planes firsthand, despite the danger. The Nazi planes could cross the Channel from France in just six minutes. Six minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am
Jeffrey Davison:

Niall, Churchill did guide the U.K. as well as anyone could during WWII, but the record of most imperialist nations is a mixed one, for sure. And believe me, I am not recommending Churchill's daily dosing, but amazing that he was able to function amazingly well. For sure, it would NOT work for me, or most of us.

I got the impression from Stalin’s biography that he mostly drank red wine and occasionally overindulged. I didn’t know Truman was a heavy drinker, though he was of that Prohibition-era generation.

jn34282, I dunno, but there is a fascinating new book out now about the daughters of Roosevelt, Churchill and Harriman at Yalta, and what they did to aid their fathers and thus their great influence on post-war Europe, especially. Untold until now. The book is The Daughters of Yalta, by Catherine Grace Katz.
