Ready for a 7 hour show? ☺️
I’ll be here for most of it, have to step away from about 6-7:30, but otherwise I will be listening

Phillipe!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Phillippe Bastille:

I've been thinking about updating my look. Those Paul Williams glasses may be just the ticket!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Julie:

it's not that the glasses are big, it's that he is small
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Phillippe Bastille:

My wife pointed out that my last pair of glasses were quite popular on most serial killers portrayed on tv.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Julie:

jeffrey dahmer glasses?
Avatar 3:19pm C.S.:

So 13 hours of radio this week. How do you do it, Julie?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Julie:

I'll let you know when I'm done! hahaha
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Phillippe Bastille:

Fictionalized serial killers usually sport the old Ray Ban look, kind of like Edward Kemper
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Julie:

speaking of serial killers, anyone watch Des? I never even knew about that guy
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Phillippe Bastille:

I have not seen that as of yet. What's it on?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Julie:

AMC maybe?? It's got David Tennant in it, only 3 episodes.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Julie:

guy in england who killed a bunch of young men
Avatar 3:28pm Daya:

Haven’t seen Des yet, but might :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Phillippe Bastille:

Well if it has David Tennant in it it has to be good
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Julie:

oooh i really like this C&J song
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Julie:

I was trying to figure out if that was his real accent
Avatar 3:33pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Like Brenda Dickson said: WELL, HELLO.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Julie:

heya Cha Cha! You got your wish, 7 hours!
Avatar 3:35pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

It took a while for it to sink in. 7 hours, whoa! Thank you, Julie!
Avatar 3:36pm HyperDose:

I can tell this is going to be quite the cathartic seven hours!
Avatar 3:39pm C.S.:

The Hollies
Avatar 3:39pm Daya:

Hollies?
Avatar 3:43pm C.S.:

There's that Saturn and Jupiter conjunction thing in the sky. Of course there were clouds yesterday.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Julie:

I didn't even try to look honestly
Avatar 3:48pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Every time something like that happens, yours truly is too dumb and has no idea what to look for, where and when. I mean I have never even witnessed a solar eclipse!
Avatar 3:49pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Lunar eclipses are nicer - you need no equipment and need not fear for your eyes.
Avatar 3:50pm C.S.:

Ya, in the end it's just going to be two small dots in the sky.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Julie:

yep. I saw photos!
Avatar 3:53pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Shortsightedness and small dots on the sky are not a winning combination. Poor me and my scratched specs.
  3:55pm Miles of Middle Texas:

Oh hi. I hear that thing about air. Listening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Scott67:

G'day Julie & Soulsters. A Bright Morning of the Summer here.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Julie:

hi Scott!
Avatar 3:57pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Thanks for the tip Julie, I'll try and find Des from somewhere, David Tennant really does look like him in the promo picture, could be good.

Avatar 4:19pm Daya:

Last show I was at was LJG and AM! on march 11th :/
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:19pm chris in the redwoods:

oh yes. i've been watching a few travel shows as well. pre-pandemic life was pretty cool.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Julie:

man that would just depress me.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:23pm chris in the redwoods:

i totally understand that sentiment, Julie. for me its an escape to a time that didn't depress me.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:32pm chris in the redwoods:

amen
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

hanging in here, Julie! WFMU helps so much! What would i do without this refuge? xoxox
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Julie:

same! I remember a Xmas I was home alone listening to the station, a VERY long time ago. Definitely helped.
Avatar 4:36pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

volume went up!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Julie:

is it too loud? I saw how low it was
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm WR:

Volume good 👍 👌 🙌
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:39pm chris in the redwoods:

WHAT? :P
Avatar 4:40pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Btw, my Dark Night of the Soul pre-show Vinyl Warm-up has indeed become a regular thing for me - maybe it was in anticipation of a 7 hour show (well it wasn't as I did not know about it until now) but this time I spread it over the course of two nights: so on Monday, Moody Blues was on the menu with Seventh Sojourn & To Our Children's Children's Children, whereas today was a Donovan Tuesday with Sunshine Superman and Barabajagal. I'll have to do this again on Xmas Eve, though with no Xmas music (I have very few Xmas vinyls, basically all of 'em have been inherited from my mam).
Avatar 4:40pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

ha, that song!
  4:40pm KWilde:

Hi Julie! Gotta run - I'll check back in a couple of hours
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Julie:

Hiya KWilde! Probably not playing xmas music on Xmas eve, but probably some Xmas night.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Julie:

something about this song, Sylvia?
Avatar 4:42pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

shoutout to single people and the ones in LDR 😑
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Julie:

aw man I knew you liked this band but that was not intentional
  4:43pm KWilde:

I'm sure whatever you play will be good
Avatar 4:43pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

song’s fine, Julie!
Avatar 4:44pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

I could have done a singalong to it, but too shy (for someone who sings in a band, that’s odd, I know)
Avatar 4:45pm Daya:

LDR?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Julie:

long distance relationship
Avatar 4:46pm Daya:

Ahhh! Not ideal, but I would even take one of those at this point :/
Avatar 4:48pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

I’d advise picking same continent then
Avatar 4:50pm Daya:

I really don’t get a LDR, especially with folks who never even met IRL, but I see it so often. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Julie:

I like the idea of a short distance. Someone who is not always underfoot.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

The level of trust required to maintain an LDR is epic. (Source: a person who once tried to maintain an LDR with an untrustworthy and untrusting partner)
Avatar 4:53pm Daya:

Yes, that would be ideal.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Julie:

been there, phillippe!
Avatar 4:54pm Daya:

Well, trust can be a thing with a non-LDR too, especially in a polycule
  4:54pm Mr Nobody:

Hey All!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Julie:

heya Mr Nobody!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:55pm listener james from westwood:

Where the hell was I when this Fibonaccis track came out?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Scott67:

Sylvia, a shout back! Just me & my dog down here. WFMU is my preferred window to the world right now. I have watched two women in my life board airplanes, one back to California. The other back to France.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:55pm chris in the redwoods:

agreed, Daya! there's no trust like trust in an open or poly relationship
Avatar 4:55pm Daya:

Agreed!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:56pm listener james from westwood:

Release this 25 years later and it'd be in the dark cabaret genre for sure.
Avatar 4:56pm HyperDose:

WFMU should host a lonely hearts valentines day ice cream social!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Julie:

I wonder if there are enough songs about serial killers to fill an hour.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:57pm chris in the redwoods:

there are a few greats on Cave's Murder Ballads
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:57pm listener james from westwood:

There's that Dahmer-themed Oompa-Loompa song. Also "My Name Is Norman Bates" if we're including fictional ones.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Julie:

I had no idea who Ed Gein was when I picked that song
  4:58pm Mr Nobody:

Sounds like you have homework now Julie. lol

@Scott67 sorry to hear about your experiences

You know, I’ve had my share of trust and betrayals. It can happen right under your own roof where you felt the safest.
LDR are hard, for many reasons, I wouldn’t say trust is the main one. Trust is a main requirement in any relationship.

Rhett Miller refers to himself as a serial lady killer in the Old 97's "Barrier Reef":
Empty bottle was half empty, tide was low, and I was thirsty
I saw her sitting at the bar, well you know how some girls are
Always making eyes, well she wasn't making eyes

So I sidled up beside her, settled down and shouted, "Hi there"
My name's Stewart Ransom Miller, I'm a serial lady-killer"
She said, "I'm already dead," that's exactly what she said

Photocopy, yes, Jorma Kaukonen. His mom and my dad were cousins and very close. Her parents helped raise my dad and sent him to college for 3/4 of a degree (he was orphaned at 13). I was able to meet her once before she died, and I met Jorma's brother, but I have never met him. My sisters have, though, when Hot Tuna played Atlanta. Their mother was wonderful and always very kind to me my whole life.

Yes. You need Hot Tuna. I dove in all at once and picked a box collecting their early stuff. Hot Tuna was Jorma's outlet with amazing bass player Jack Casady when they just wanted to tear into the Blues and jam. They rock like crazy, and the stuff with Papa John Creach on the violin is pretty intense.

Hmmm, I have not gotten any further with my Hot Tuna explorations in 36 years, meaning I found "Yellow Fever" from my local library as an 8-year-old, and actually bought the very same record for pennies 10 years later when they were deleting stock. A few tracks aside, that album is all I have heard from Hot Tuna to this day. Then again, funnily enough I heard them years before I heard even a note from Jefferson Airplane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Scott67:

C.S. we still just call them G-strings. So thongs live on as our beloved footwear. I've worn mine virtually all this crazy year.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Handy Haversack:

I think there were timber concerns, @Cha Cha? My dad's more immediate branch was in Odessa and emigrated from there around 1905. Ended up as tobacco farmers in Connecticut, but my dad's dad rebelled and became a geological engineer and tried to make it as a writer while exploring the South Seas [sic and !]. My dad's mother died when he was young, and his father was lost at sea trying to sail from Tahiti to Fiji by himself. Thus, the eventual stepping in by his cousin's family.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The paradox is the reductive simplicity of the riff is what makes it a breakthrough : Pop & Rawk are so often about Sounds - often electronic ones.
Like distortion is counterintuitively a simplification of the soundwave - chopping off bits of it to make like a pure electronic impulse - closer to a synthesizer. As soon as guitars were electric it was inevitable amps would be overdriven - there's Howlin' Wolf tracks in 1954 that have it. Right after The Kinks of course TheWho work with Jim Marshall to make the truly large Amos & it's all fond but the screaming. But there were also Surf players like DickDale pushing it with Fender Amos in Cali... Every time I listen to Fools Paradise it's like history gets rewritten !...

  7:34pm Nick:

Oh, a composer! Maybe we can talk Julie into adding him sometime.
  7:35pm Dean:

Well, a fledgling composer. Mozart he weren't.
  7:36pm Nick:

Rabbit, well, communism definitely explored many ways of exploiting people. But just because people are exploited doesn't mean it is due to communism. But if we get too into politics it might ruin the mood for people who just want to drift around and be carried by the music ^_^ can always message me when the music is off too.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Julie:

cold war commies is a great name for a band
Avatar 7:36pm Daya:

Hot War Commies is a *better* name!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Julie:

welcome back Daya!
  7:36pm Nick:

Julie, remember that Waynes World scene where their fundraising party for rtheir band concert, was a commie party
Avatar 🦇 7:39pm K8:

I just did a search of "cold war commies" and "hot war commies," and they don't exist as bands...soooo..seems like someone out there should start a band...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The bandname Nat King Kong has been floated : seemed like a good idea till I contemplated graphix...
  7:40pm Nick:

Hmn. Starting a band could be fun. Do any of us play instruments well.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...well enuff for that bandname...
Avatar 🦇 7:41pm K8:

I'm a fan of just getting together and making noise...

I always liked “Legs Akimbo” for a band name ☺️
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

I was laughed at when I asked a music teacher about Bach's "Tocatta and Fugu in D minor". Gimme a break, I was 20.

Yow! Legs akimbo! That seems like yoga...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm coelacanth∅:

get with the century...you don't have to be able to play an instrument to have a band. you don't even need ANY talent! that's what software and marketing are for!
  7:42pm Nick:

Arms Akimbo was a cartoon villain in the warner brothers cartoon Freakazoid.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

LegsAkimbo is the Singer's name...
  7:43pm Nick:

coelacanth oe, I understand the concept, but I studied violin, and took voice lessons from an opera singer turned conservatory director. So I'd still rather do it well. ^_^
Avatar 7:43pm Daya:

I prefer Deep Purple with Tommy Bolin, only two albums tho’
  7:44pm Dean:

Interesting, Daya. I was in a band named Akimbo well before the band of that name that had some success. We played a joint in Buena Park (think Knott's Berry Farm, not far from Disneyland) where Metallica played their first "paid" show (years after we played, naturally). It was one of the *very few* good bands I was in. Good songwriters, good musicians except me. Pretty solid show, as I recall.
Avatar 🦇 7:44pm K8:

Exactly, coela...make some music or noise or whatever...wait, wait @ Rev Rabbit...that's the singer's name? Wow. wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm coelacanth∅:

RR @718 and before Dick Dale was Elmore; and before him was Christian.
(although Christian's distortion may have been unavoidable)
Avatar 7:45pm Daya:

We came up with “legs akimbo” for our name back in 1979, but ended up with an 80s name, that started with “The” like every other band in the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm coelacanth∅:

Nick, i'd rather you did too
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Elmo !
  7:47pm Nick:

coelacanth0 that'd require effort and practice and some amount of cohesion with a band though.

  7:50pm Dean:

Graham Gouldman? Nope. Never in 10CC.

I grew jaded in terms of band names with the advent of X. Still can't fathom why they picked that.

I always liked Fruit Eating Bears.

@coel he runs a songwriting factory in Sweden or some place like that. They have a bunch of songwriters that sit around and crank out a hit song every 4 hours or so, Their approach is to put the hook in the first 10 seconds or so, or else they'll lose the listener. "Martin has written or co-written 23 Billboard Hot 100 number-one songs, most of which he has also produced or co-produced, including Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" (2008), Maroon 5's "One More Night" (2012), Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" (2014), and The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" (2019). Martin is the songwriter with the third-most number-one singles on the chart, behind only Paul McCartney (32) and John Lennon (26). In addition, he has the second-most Hot 100 number-one singles as a producer, 21, behind George Martin, who had achieved 23 by the time of his death

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:10pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Julie part of his arrangement, I believe, is that the artist (who buys a crapload of money to buy the song) can make some changes to be able to say they co-wrote it. Change a word, make a third.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Sylvia's hit the hay, K8 (Michael, here) but yes, I think they're handling it much better. I'm also sure Sylvia would/will disagree! She thinks even France could be doing this much better.

Hi, chresti!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:49pm Julie:

Donovan improved vastly when he stopped trying to be Woody Guthrie (or Dylan)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm coelacanth∅:

greetings chrestibule!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Vestibule a very Robyn word.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm Scott67:

wow she really sounds like Fiona doesn't she
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Very chill set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm coelacanth∅:

Julie i agree. and the "overproduced", overdubbed version of catch the wind on the original greatest hits album that's now virtually unavailable is far better than the 2nd rate folk version they've replaced it with
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:53pm chris in the redwoods:

signing off for the night, but will keep listening for a bit longer. you make it hard to stop listening, Julie. thanks for the marathon show. you rule.

take good care, folks.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Julie:

hmm I have some of those weird hits collections I will have to check that out
Avatar 8:53pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I usually don't care for live albums, but now I am regretting not listening to Donovan In Concert before this show, I have it as a twofer vinyl with Sunshine Superman, that I did listen to before tuning into WFMU Drummer.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Scott67:

Yay Julie!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm coelacanth∅:

Julie you know the version i mean though right? the original greatest hits lp version...maybe that version was the single released? i don't know... but in the digital age they've replaced it with the bland, somewhat feelingless "folk" version from the catch the wind album.
spotify has the song on 3 different Donovan albums but they're all the acoustic guitar one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm coelacanth∅:

was Sandy Denny really that short?
no wonder she rarely hurt herself throwing herself to the floor for attention; she was already close to the ground!

I think Floyd are a little like the Velvet Underground ! : A lot of us discovered this music & these albums in isolation & caries it as intimate & solitary - maybe Floyd less so in the UK? They're of a time, yet timeless. They'll still be wowing when "Influencers" have long since got a real life.

Was making dinner, so no Donovan. Yet I hope for Gentle Giant...?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Julie:

Avatar 9:30pm C.S.:

We had a discussion at work. Of all the movies made in the 1930s and 1940s, probably only The Three Stooges is discovered by newer generations. Something timeless about being whacked in the head with a hammer.

I love King King 1933 dearly - but @ one point it slipped out of a sensorium of special effects new age groups would relate to... I haven't seen the Marx Bros. in ages... Thing about the 20th Century was - they would show old movies & cartoons - & you'd pick up decades & decades of stuff - Laurel & Hardy - whatever.,,
Nat King Kong could pursue something like Meddle...
Avatar 9:36pm C.S.:

Found myself explaining to a coworker that Yvonne de Carlo was a femme fatale long before she was Lilly Munster. She took the role because she was bankrupt but The Munsters is what most people think of regarding her career. Life is funny like that.

Avatar 9:38pm C.S.:

I am amazed how many cartoons from the 30s we watched in the 80s on TV. Little Rascals too. Do the young kids watch Little Rascals these days?
Avatar 9:38pm C.S.:

Yes, Julie.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yes, and Uncle Fester is remembered for putting a light bulb in his mouth and lighting it up.
Avatar 9:39pm C.S.:

"I'll shoot him in the back." Great Uncle Fester line.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Right ?! How can you even grow up without BugsBunny? Otoh - it's all online...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Bugs Bunny was basically my hero. Still is, really
  9:41pm Nick:

I dunno, when i hear the name I think of the other uncle fester that whined from prison about how people were infringing on his intellectual property.
Avatar 9:41pm C.S.:

The Addams Family gave top billing to Carolyn Jones. Very surprised by that. In one episode, she wanted to place a call using a fake name. She picked Jones and Uncle Fester disapprovingly said, "What kind of name is that?!" She then chose Smith. Nice inside joke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Scott67:

Handy, they are amazing to watch, can snatch a mosquito in mid flight. And fend off birds 4 times their size.
  9:42pm Nick:

Oh, anything that eats mosquitos is something I should look at getting for my home.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Julie:

Bats!
Avatar 9:43pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

How are you holding up Julie? Like I said, it did take me a couple of minutes to realize this REALLY was going to be 7 hours. Then again, I would not mind should you go overtime
  9:43pm Nick:

Some Bats eat melons, not mosquitoes, so be careful when re-filling your bat cave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Scott67:

Rich, I preferred the grifting of Daffy Duck.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Handy Haversack:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Spiders! But the ones in Oz will likely kill ya.
  9:45pm Nick:

Hmn. always a trade off with exotic housemates.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

@Scott - Daffy was great, though I really didn't like how they made him the "heavy" in a sense vs. Bugs. I loved the original, insanely daffy Daffy Duck. Or when he would terrorize Porky Pig
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Scott67:

Handy, damn strait Dragonflies devour mozzies as their main meal.
  9:46pm Nick:

Okay. Guessing a cricket cage wouldn't be the thing to keep a dragonfly in. did they have aquatic larvae. science class was so long ago. I will make a note to read up on em later.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Aitch:

Marvin the Martian v Daffy/Bugs my faves.
My yard festooned with spider webs, big fat orb weavers, like walking into a trampoline. Sydney summer spiders, cicadas chirping up now too.

I love the fact there are no venomous animals here in Finland save for the black adders and you'd be either very young or elderly or allergic or unlucky to die from a bite
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:48pm WR:

Photocopy, I'm elderly, unlucky and allergic, so I'll stay away.
  9:48pm Nick:

Finland sounds nice. I only know 10 words in Finnish though. and some of them aren't very useful like vainen or saaloteoria.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Rich in Bay Ridge:

Do mosquitoes have any real value apart from being a food source for so many other creatures?
  9:49pm Nick:

Yes. they spread larvae and parasites and blood borne pathogens! and they're great for dinosaur movie origins.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Julie:

I mean I guess that's enough, someone has to be food
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Aitch:

They thin the herds
  9:50pm Nick:

1 2 3 not it. not it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Scott67:

Ken, the Sydney Funnel Web will definitely do you in. But of the rest just a painful bite, or allergic reaction to worry about, like the Red Back,(Black Widow). Google Huntsman Spider, I let one crawl around on my hand last week.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Mosquitoes make one appreciate winter just a little bit.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Julie:

I feel bad, if I drop dead my birds will be in cages and unable to eat me, unlike a cat or a dog
  9:51pm Nick:

Maybe you could sleep in a hammock, suspended above the birdcages, to solve that.
Avatar 9:51pm C.S.:

Julie, teach them to cry for help in a human voice.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Julie:

oh those honeyeaters are cute

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Scott67:

Julie, my dog has better taste than that.
  9:52pm Nick:

ah. the cages aren't strong enough for a collision ... okay. :-/
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Julie:

yeah but unless they can open a can...they eat what's around
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:53pm spodiodi:

Those Huntsman Spiders are damn big.
  9:53pm Nick:

what about cages that open on a timer, that you have to re-set every several hours so they stay locked in.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Handy Haversack:

Let's crowdsource a dead-man switch for Julie where if she doesn't enter the code every 24 hours, the cages all open and all the cans open themselves.

Thanks, Julie! So glad for this!
