Familiar & forgotten gems from 50-plus years of music on the darker side, shoegaze, synthpop, goth, psychedelia, darkwave, with unapologetic detours into 70s pop. In a dark night of the soul, it's always 3 o'clock in the morning.

Listener comments!
I’ll be here for most of it, have to step away from about 6-7:30, but otherwise I will be listening
hi Daya, james, Sylvia, HyperDose!
You know, I’ve had my share of trust and betrayals. It can happen right under your own roof where you felt the safest.
LDR are hard, for many reasons, I wouldn’t say trust is the main one. Trust is a main requirement in any relationship.
Empty bottle was half empty, tide was low, and I was thirsty
I saw her sitting at the bar, well you know how some girls are
Always making eyes, well she wasn't making eyes
So I sidled up beside her, settled down and shouted, "Hi there"
My name's Stewart Ransom Miller, I'm a serial lady-killer"
She said, "I'm already dead," that's exactly what she said
The sun is down.
This crazy old world.
there's a Haversack in the Airplane?
That branch of the family had lived in Finland before immigrating, and my "aunt" married a Finnish American in the foreign service and was posted in Finland for a while, @Cha Cha.
that sounds pretty risky... man.
Victory?
We'll miss you, Daya!
...there's plenty of Julie to go around !!...
- I think of John Kerry fresh back from Vietnam asking Congress - who should be the last to die for a mistake...
About Jimmy Page ?
...These are the longest Darkest Nights in fact of course...
& then?
I actually have to get on a [MOTHERPUSBUCKET] call in a minute. But you better believe I'll be back!
Also, Kate's going to tag in, I think.
Love it, Julie. SO glad to be here.
but you really got me was/is just childrens music. anybody getting credit for that riff is like getting credit for the key of g.
Like distortion is counterintuitively a simplification of the soundwave - chopping off bits of it to make like a pure electronic impulse - closer to a synthesizer. As soon as guitars were electric it was inevitable amps would be overdriven - there's Howlin' Wolf tracks in 1954 that have it. Right after The Kinks of course TheWho work with Jim Marshall to make the truly large Amos & it's all fond but the screaming. But there were also Surf players like DickDale pushing it with Fender Amos in Cali... Every time I listen to Fools Paradise it's like history gets rewritten !...
@ Julie...this is so exciting! 7 hours!!! Yeeeaaaahhhh!
Best sentence: "Most workers in the United States are governed by communist dictatorships in their work lives."
(although Christian's distortion may have been unavoidable)
I grew jaded in terms of band names with the advent of X. Still can't fathom why they picked that.
I always liked Fruit Eating Bears.
(I'm joking. OF COURSE GRAHAM GOULDMAN WAS IN 10cc!!!)
I love Original Soundtrack. "Minestrone," c'mon?
but what i'm referring to is the mainstream crap that's so often created from marketing/image ideas, algorithm-generated ideas, mass-appeal-tested production ideas...
no . . .
i'd rather hear unadulterated music by people that can't play for shit, than that
jamusic6.bandcamp.com...
...careful what you wish for...
Thanks for supersizing the show!
I remember seeing the first McCartney at KMart during visits time after time. Finally I bought it there, '70 or '71. A superb album.
but maybe he would've ditched Yoko and started making good, radical folk music or something.
so much potential but he needs a collaborator - and a moderator
fucking balling my eyes out
(no pun intended... musically)
greetings spodi
Hi, chresti!
take good care, folks.
Oh Germano '96! Might've been when singer I played with was her Bassist. Don't even know if he was in the Studio with her...
spotify has the song on 3 different Donovan albums but they're all the acoustic guitar one.
no wonder she rarely hurt herself throwing herself to the floor for attention; she was already close to the ground!
We love you, Julie!
Nat King Kong could pursue something like Meddle...
My yard festooned with spider webs, big fat orb weavers, like walking into a trampoline. Sydney summer spiders, cicadas chirping up now too.
see you all
I was only around for a portion & still impressed !
Let's crowdsource a dead-man switch for Julie where if she doesn't enter the code every 24 hours, the cages all open and all the cans open themselves.
Thanks, Julie! So glad for this!
Be well, Dark Ones. Keep flexing those black membranous wings in front of the bone-white moon. Until next time!
Looking forward to Christmas Eve and Christmas evening.
